I'm a fan of like JE, Trey, Musiq, John Legend, and a bunch of old stuff like Dru Hill, Guy, Silk, BMcknight and B2M.

I haven't checked out Frank Ocean but I've been meaning too.
 
Get "nostalgia, ULTRA" by Frank Ocean and "House of Balloons" by The Weeknd. Two of the best projects I've heard this year.

I'd also recommend Jhene Aiko's "sailing soul(s)" and Bei Maejor's "Throwback" mixtape, because I think it's an interesting, fun concept.

And get Jesse Boykins III's "The Beauty Created" album from 2008...he's got more of the throwback style that you like.
