And don't forget, he was 1-1 at that point and the win was over HEATH HERRING.

I don't think anyone can really blame them, but in hindsight, they could have given him one more main event level fight before the title fight I suppose.

He needed a lot more than just one or two fights. He should have been brought up the same way Daniel Cormier is being brought up - and he's a far better overall fighter and has better wrestling credentials than Brock.

You are ignoring the business side. They needed him in main events, not third from the top against Heath Herring's for a year.

If Cormier could do a million buys right now, he'd be fighting JDS next month instead of Barnett.

EliteXC had the same mentality with Kimbo, which many of you didn't agree with, but at least EliteXC was not the top promotion in the business. I can forgive the smaller guys for taking that route to keep their business afloat.

That's why I say that loking back, one more fight over a semi top guy would have helped that perception some. It was pretty obvious they were feeding him Coleman, and then when Coleman pulled out they gave him an even easier style matchup with Herring. They should have done the Coleman fight after Herring, at least with two wins it would have looked a little better.

I think something like 20 out of 28 Strikeforce title shots were given to fighters coming off of a loss or draw. Or it was 20 out of 28 title fights featured one participant coming off of a loss.

MMA has an awful track record of handing out bad title shots.

JDS - Brazilian, bad english, and so on

Jones - White guys dont like his attitude, the little black MMA fans they have dont like him either

And1 - Only if he fights Chael can they make money with him, no desire to move up where he belongs

GSP - Hurt again, out for a long time

Edgar - Um, yeah

Aldo - All the issues with JDS but in a smaller package

Cruz - Fans dont like watching guys who weigh what there girlfirend weighs after the winter

Chael will be working overtime with this act, maybe they can do a Pipers Pit with him next

I think it's going to be a stagnate PPV year for the UFC too. For as much as Dana likes to talk about how the UFC is growing and becoming more accepted, you have to wonder how real their growth actually is in the US. Do they have more fans, or just more viewers? People who are following the sport and know it inside and out just as NFL fans do? I'm sure the percentage of hardcore MMA fans would be dwarfed in comparison to other major sports. If guys like JDS and Jones can't sell there's a major problem with the way they're marketing their brand and fighters.

But, to be fair PPV numbers don't tell the whole story. BWW is standing room only on fight nights unless you get there super early. Most every other sports bar/restaurant is just as packed with UFC fans. At least that's how it is in Pittsburgh, which is why I was surprised that the event here didn't do well. That's easily millions of viewers and revenue unaccounted for in general PPV estimates.

On the flip side, finding a place that's playing a Mayweather fight is much harder. So the demand for the UFC is pretty strong - people are just finding other ways to watch the event.

I'm assuming the WWE is on Fox right? Otherwise I don't get it. Either way I don't see how this helps the image of the sport or Chael Sonnen who a lot of people claim is putting on too much of a wrestling act.
