The weirdest thing to ever happen to me was I believe Madden 25. It was 3rd down and 9 for my opponent. He threw about a 30 yard pass down field that I intercepted. However, I accidentally tapped pitch mid interception and pitched the ball with my defender. I was flagged for an illegal forward pass. So it gave my opponent the ball up where I intercepted it, and it was now 4th and -31 for him. Yes that is a negative sign. He ended up throwing an incomplete pass on 4th and -31. Next play..... his ball still, 1st and 10 since he technically still had the first unless I sacked him for 32 yards I guess. He was cool about it though and just punted the ball to me.

When I looked at the screen and actually saw this: 4th and -31, I was all :wtf:

Lol and that's happened to me. I don't really have complaints about madden more like things I'm kinda sick of. Pass Interference not working correctly,Five years ago I used to think of how great penalties would work and be fixed on the next gen. Look were we are today, my dreams have been crushed lol. Slideritis, spending months tinkering and tweaking and trying to figure out what affect its has on game play, since they don't do what they should. Animations, yes they have been kinda worked on, but the tackling ones me make feel old since they seem like they been around forever.mg:

As long as you hold MLB The Show and NBA 2K to the same standard it's all good... Way worse bugs than that in those games

We have been seeing the same issues plague Madden since the inception of online play. Year after year we get the same pre-release hype that's filled with a bunch of lies and meaningless features while game play continues to to suffer. We are able to implore the same strategy's from Madden 05 or earlier because not much has changed from a game play standpoint. Automatic out routes/comebacks, quick passes before a player even gets off the LOS, lob and jetpack/outstick, same canned animations an no true dynamic animations, Robo CPU QB has been in madden since the beginning of time... the list goes on. I buy Madden because 1. I love football and 2. Us league members make the game bearable, I don't buy it because it's a great football game and I don't get any perks to act like it is.

I don't play The Show. With 2k I haven't seen any major bugs but then again, I never dove as deep into 2k as I have Madden. Gameplay wise I have no major complaints. There are annoying things that happen like the ball sailing over players heads and out of bounds more often than I like but nothing rage worthy. I haven't really gotten into the hardcore aspects like play calling and franchise play, if I did I would probably see some of these game breaking bugs you speak of. Right now I'm happy with being able to pick the 95 Magic and get busy with Penny Hardaway and guess what, it actually feels like I'm playing with Penny Hardaway and not generic player #1 of 3.

With Madden the new regime may be taking strides to make the game better but we have been hearing the same song and dance for over a decade so we will naturally be much more critical of a company who seemingly doesn't strive to put out the best quality product possible. How long are we going to have all these generic players? Not everyone runs the same, lines up the same, jukes the same etc.... How long have we been asking for a better atmosphere? When playing 2k you feel like you are in the arena. The crowd reacts to the situations, arena specific music and sound effects..... shit is amazing when you have the surround sound pumped.

We will see what this new Madden team is about in the next 2 or 3 years with the power of these new consoles until then I'll remain cautiously optimistic while hoping 2K is able to return to the football arena.

So basically you are saying the hardcore guys like yourself, me as well as many others on this site notice flaws in the game easier than a casual player, and take it more seriously. You are 100% correct in saying that.

My point is that ALL of these sports games have the same flaws year in and year out. Hardcore sports guys point these out for every game. I tend to get irritated when folks act like other games don't have the exact same flaws. That's not pointed at you directly, just a blanket statement.

Then it comes down to this: the more complex we expect sports games to be, the more AI driven we want them... The more flaws and weird shit is gonna happen. And we have to expect that. EVERY developer will tell you that.

That isn't saying that we shouldn't want better or more. Its saying expectations should be grounded with some sort of realistic views for sports games. While you are I are clamoring for gameplay to be first... You have 10 others somewhere else because there isn't individual commentary for each game and to them its the only priority.

So what do they do? They have to make sure they have the ability to do both each and every year.

This guy in the video? I bet he is a real "great guy" in real life. If someone acts like that over a video game... I don't even know what to say other than I would have stopped playing sports games long ago.

This isn't applicable when there's only one game on the Market because said company did everything in it's power to ensure competition was irrelevant. Even when a competitor came out with a non licensed product and a fresh idea, EA took steps to ensure a game like that would never come out again. MUT is pretty big on Historical players now isn't it?

So when there's only one game on the market, and there's no where else to turn to get that fix, that game has to be held to a higher standard.

You can't get annoyed and pissy with people for holding Madden to a different standard than they hold NBA2K. They literally have no other option if they want to play football games with their friends. especially considering we're moving into the next generation of consoles.

Notice how you do not like NBA 2K, which is clearly evident in your posting, but you don't have to play it because you can play Live. Now you don't have to spend all day complaining about 2K, because you can get the experience you desire from Live. Those of us in the football realm who want more from that product, or even just what we used to have, are simply out of luck.

I have to say that I probably play Madden 100 times more than any other sports game out there. It pains me to admit that too.
That said, I have seen far more crazy things happen in Madden on a regular basis than NBA 2K or MLB The Show. Part of me feels like Madden gets a pass because it involves far more player interactions each and every play.

There have been so many moments that have made me cringe in Madden, but really it all boils down to games simply needing to get better. I am excited to see what M15 can bring to the table.
