Patriots signed QB Tom Brady to a three-year, $27 million extension through 2017.

Previously signed through 2014, Brady is now under contract until age 40 and will likely retire a Patriot. As explained by SI's Peter King, Brady's deal will pay him "significantly less than the market will bear," in an effort to ensure the Patriots stay competitive throughout the contract's life. Brady received an immediate $3 million signing bonus, but the new deal gives New England "massive cap relief" by reducing Brady's 2013-2014 salary cap numbers, freeing up $15 million over those two seasons. The Patriots should be active in free agency thanks to Brady. His 2013 cap number has been reduced from $22 million to $13.8 million.

In a day and age where it seems EVERYONE just wants to get paid, I love seeing a move like this. Kudos to Brady for freeing up the space in the next 2 years so New England can still go out and try to get more guys for his last run.

You got one of the most elite QB's, top 3 easily on everyone's list, taking less money so his team can be competitive, and then you got fucks like Flacco and Revis who want to be the highest paid player at their position.

Disagree, Brady is reportedly worth 100 million and Gisele is worth 150 million. Are we thinking he is doing this because of 50 million dollars? This is not the first time he has done this, the guy wants to win, this is not about his legacy, thats already is sealed.

He is one of the best of all time, probably behind Montana, how much more can he add to his legacy?
