I get that the Giants have won 2 of the last 3 World Series' but c'mon, Brian Sabean has made some horrible deals (Wheeler for Beltran, Joe Nathan et al for AJ Pierzynski, Barry Zito). Plus, I look at some recent re-signings like Marco Scutaro 3y/20M into his age 40 season, Angel Pagan 4y/45M into his age 36 season, and then they have a huge extension for Matt Cain who's got the 8th worse ERA in all of baseball right now (though, I'll admit that's not really Sabean's fault).

Outside of Buster Posey, Madison Bumgarner, and Hunter Pence (who has shocked me this year, I didn't think he'd be this good) their current team looks like a buncha leftover scrubs that they stuck together like you'd expect from some small market club, but they still have the 6th highest payroll in MLB.

I mean, I guess he did bring a team that used to live in the gutter to three World Series, which is something that can't be said about a bunch of the other guys we all have boners for (Anthropolous, Friedman, Daniels). Maybe I'm just a jealous hater since I'm a YOYER fan?

-Gob being realistic about Lunhow is refreshing, countering the ridiculous knob slobbing he gets to this point doing absolutely nothing but the obvious.

-Let's keep in mind that Mozeliak is not some genius who boldly told Pujols to take a hike. They backed up the Brink's truck in Pujols's driveway and offered every penny they could. They caught a massive break when Moreno decided to go full retard. I wonder what your perceptions would be had Pujols taken the Cardinals money.

-Let's be fair, Dayton Moore's plan to fix the starting pitching worked this year. Remember when KC was being lauded for their #1 farm system? Well, none of those guys have worked out. Is that on Moore? He acquired all of those guys, right? But everybody loved them 24 months ago.

These things have so many layers. My list would probably look similar. I won't even attempt to do this. It's very hard.

I think people are (fairly) crediting him with building one of the deepest organizations when he was the scouting director with St. Louis. It's not a stretch to see what he's done with Houston in a short time and say he's one of the top farm system architects in the game. And that's a pretty important attribute for a GM to have.

Duquette should be in the bottom 10, probably replaces AA in that discussion on Nahste's list, which I pretty much agree with. I also like Sabean, but he has made some head scratchers that aren't Cain, the Pagan and Scutaro are inexcusable. I also don't fault him 100% for the Zito deal, as the Giants needed to make a move for a starter then, but should have seen the warning signs with Zito constantly throwing his curveball all over the place and wearing his arm out.

If Hosmer finally turns the corner and the last month isn't just an aberration and Moose turns some of his luck around in the second half...there might be some crow to go around.
