Nice pick-up. He's got cache in the Midwest, and he's obviously a solid coach who produces disciplined teams. After dealing with the dearth of talent in Buffalo, he's probably gonna feel like he's got world class athletes when he sees his Kansas team.

How does that make it any less of a good hire? ND probably wanted Meyer and Gruden ahead of Kelly but that doesn't mean it wasn't a good choice going with him in the end . It's a good hire because Gill is a good coach ... seems pretty simple to me

He's losing pretty much his entire offense, and the defense he's inheriting wasn't very good to begin with. Plus, the Big XII North isn't the patsy league everyone thinks it is.

He's coming from Buffalo lol and the B12N is pretty bad . ACC Atlantic is probably the only place that rivals it for shittyness (sp) out of the "power conferences"

All the choices are delusional, least of which probably Tubby since he doesn't have currently a job, but honestly why would Houston Nutt leave the SEC for a basketball school in Lawrence, KS, and why would Harbaugh leave a nationally prominent university in California for a basketball school in Lawrence, KS?

Settling for the 5th choice isn't always a bad thing when choices 1-4 are way out of your league.

Harbaugh is probably the biggest reach, but I think he too would consider the job. He's a Midwest guy. Stanford is nationally prominent for academics, not their football team. California is nice, but he has to recruit against all of the Cali teams, and with higher academic standards. Kansas isn't that hard to recruit for. It's in the middle of the country so you can dip into all regions. Plus, they have nice facilities, a nice campus, hot girls, and oh yeah, that basketball school from Lawrence, KS won the Orange Bowl only 2 years ago...with a fat fuck as a head coach.

I remember a few years ago when everyone was pissed and claimed racism when Gill wasn't hired by Auburn after a good year at Buffalo. Fastforward to today and Kansas is being praised for hiring Gill who had an overall record of 5-7. Time will tell if this was good hiring, but it seems to me that right now Kansas is being praised for hiring a black coach and because of it people are scared to question the hiring of a coach that had a losing record.

Remember we're talking about Buffalo here and what he did was pretty damn good IMO. I think he'll do a great job and bringing up this year without knowing just how hard the injury bug actually hit them is ridiculous. I wish him all the luck.

I don't think Kansas is on the level of sucking like the Cleveland Browns, but I guess everyone has an opinion. However, I think that Kansas can, and will compete for the Big 12. I'm pretty sure they did that under Mangino to be honest so how can you lol? That just makes you look dumb since it wasn't very long ago that they did just that.

It's easier for Kansas to recruit Texas and Florida than Stanford because they're closer. That was my point.
