Giants in the Super Bowl
The fight nearly three years in the making...
Benson "Smooth" Henderson (c) vs. "Showtime" Anthony Pettis - UFC lightweight title
They last fought in December 2010, literally the last fight in WEC history. It was one of the best fights of all-time, famous for Pettis' leaping kick off the cage, which sent Bendo to the mat. He ended up winning the decision, the WEC belt and what should've been a shot at Frankie Edgar in the UFC...but it was not to be. Instead, it was Henderson who would eventually get the first crack at Edgar, and win the gold. Now, Pettis finally gets his crack at UFC gold while Bendo gets his chance to avenge his infamous loss.
Frank Mir vs. Josh Barnett
Speaking of years in the making, two of the all-time best heavyweights here. Mir is a UFC-lifer who has firmly planted his place in history by finishing via TKO and submitting Minotauro Nogueira. One of the best submission fighters, he's DANGEROUS. Josh Barnett was UFC champion many years ago after beating Randy Couture, but never returned after failing a drug test until now. He made a bunch of money competing in Japan with Pride and returned to America in recent years after that promotion's downfall. He's also one of the best grapplers around. Short of Fedor coming back, this is the biggest heavyweight match-up we'll see between a "PRIDE" guy and a "UFC" guy.
