Met the management team for Anthony Johnson, who were sitting next to me at the Orioles game before their bout started tonight. Really great guys, enjoyed talking to them.

That was an entertaining show. Glad for Rockhold and Miller.

Rumble Johnson looked ridiculous with his extra weight. I wouldn't throw him in there with Jones right away, but I'd love it if they go straight to Jones/Cormier and do Johnson/Hendo instead.

Impressive fight by Jones, especially in the latter rounds where he really opened up his boxing in the clinch. Shame that his ability as a fighter is overshadowed by him being one of the dirtiest in the history of the division though. For me anyway. He knows he's going against a guy with amazing KO power, so he deliberately decides to break his arm in the clinch and even admits that it's a dirty move at the PC. Seems like he gets away with so many moves that shouldn't be legal yet no one questions it.

The intentional eye pokes and the Mike Tyson elbow snap are usually reserved for when you are in trouble. Its like hes trying to Ric Flair his way to victory. At some point I expect to see him spew green mist or have bass knuckles in his shorts.

They are legal... completely legal. That's like trying to outlaw wrestling versus a kick boxer. You are trying to end the fight one way or another. There have been many fights where fighters are intentionally trying to cut open their opponent... that certainly shouldn't be illegal.

What do they add to the fight? There's a reason why certain moves are outlawed in the sport, because they're too dangerous and add nothing to the fight. They're just cheap moves designed to injure your opponent. There's no defense against them, it's not a technical struggle for position as all other submission moves are. So why would I ever want to see a fight end or hindered from someone getting their arm popped while clinching. There's nothing about it that's exciting, it's just cheap.

Popping the arm out is really no different than a standing arm bar. Its not going to submit someone but it allows control of the other guys movements. As far as the knee kicks... its standard amongst Muay Thai fighters as far as I have seen. A way to work the joint and slow your opponent down. No one has been injured because of it (at least not in the UFC) that I'm aware of.
