The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s first foray into live events on the FX Network returned an average audience 1.3 million viewers. UFC on FX 1: Guillard vs. Miller pulled a 1.19 rating in the Men 18-49 and 1.20 for Men 18-34, key advertising demographics.


By comparison, the three UFC Fight Nights that aired on Spike TV in 2011 averaged an audience 1.9 million and demographic ratings of 1.8 with both Men 18-49 and Men 18-34.


Both FX and Spike TV are available in approximately 100 million homes.


UFC on FX 1 preliminary bouts aired live on Fuel TV, drawing an audience of 148,000 viewers. Fuel TV is available in just over 36 million homes.


UFC on FX 1 featured Jim Miller’s submission of Melvin Guillard in the main event, as well as Josh Neer finishing Duane “Bang” Ludwig in the co-main event. There was a audience of 7,228 in attendance at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, pulling in a gate of $334,860.
 
WWE Smackdown ratings rise again, beat out UFC on FX 1 on Jan. 20

Remember all that talk of WWE potentially moving Smackdown to a live format on Tuesday night's because it didn't want to directly compete with UFC on Friday nights once it starts its Ultimate Fighter (TUF) series on FX?

Well, the two went head on this past Friday (Jan. 20, 2012) when Smackdown aired opposite UFC on FX 1: "Guillard vs. Miller." And the winner is ... WWE.

First, the Smackdown ratings (via PWTorch):

WWE's "Sin City Smackdown" on Friday, January 20 scored a 2.14 rating, holding up well after the previous Smackdown surged 21 percent to a 2.18 rating.

Smackdown averaged 3.3 million viewers, up six percent compared to the previous week and the most Smackdown viewers since 3.6 million viewers on February 25, 2011 nearly one year ago.

As opposed to the UFC on FX 1 ratings, which saw the event average 1.3 million viewers, including a 1.19 rating in the coveted male 18-49 demo and a 1.20 in males 18-34.

By the time Bellator gets to Spike next year, UFC will be established on FX.

We'll see whether Viacom can troll UFC into letting Bellator get on the network sooner.
 
FX does not equal 'fight night'

Spike is a fight network as long as they keep punping out UFC stuff for ther year, Bellators ratings will be good, no troll here
 
UFC prelims on Fuel did 140k lol.

Look, UFC has some work to do to establish these new networks as "the home for MMA". Melvin f'n Guillard is not going to get that done.

Belltor is going to have a nice built in MMA audience. BigBucs is the kind of guy who really drives these ratings, it's not the hardcore people like us who know the time & date of every show, it's Joe Channel Flipper and Joe Casual.

There was a guy on the Metlzer board, and keep in mind this is a person who PAYS for inside industry information, and he said he watched Spike for a half hour before he realized he had the wrong channel on. People are not nearly as aware of things as you think they are. 99% of fans don't think about this shit every day like we do, they just turn it on then turn it off.

No surprise. People are dumb.

Whenever WWE does a 3 hour Raw, they usually hammer it home the week before.

Then on the next Monday night @ 8, a sizable part of the audience is absent.
