UFC to hold first event in China

UFC will hold an event in China for the first time on Nov. 10, the promotion announced Tuesday night.

The Fight Night card will take place in Macau, a special administrative region of China. Macau is located off the mainland's southern coast. It is about 37 miles west of Hong Kong.

Venetian Macao-Resort Hotel will host the event at its CoteiArena, which has a seating capacity of 15,000.

"Breaking into a market with a population of over 1.3 billion is both a testament to the growth of our sport and a long-term challenge we are excited to undertake," UFC chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta said. "This is just the first of many world-class fights we plan to hold over the coming years in China, one of the birthplaces of martial arts.

"The world-class CoteiArena in Macau is an ideal place to start this journey."

UFC has not yet announced which fighters will participate on the card.

Its good business expanding into these fresh markets. When North American business has gone through ebbs & flows for Vince McMahon, he always relied on international markets to sustain profits. They are obviously white hit in Brazil, and when yiu go to these other fresh places you can keep them hot for a long time if you dont burn them out. Australia always sells out even though they get awful shows, Sweden did great, obviously Brazil, England loves fighting, and I heard Dana talking about India, but I would stay away because nobody can afford the UFC price point over there. Super Fight League & Ra Ka King had to use plants to fill the buildings, because even though people are interested, they simply dont have the money.
