Much like the WWE "Universe" gameplay option, I have found a way to make UFC Undisputed, servers shut down and all, enjoyable. I have often played offline, creating my own PPV's and seeing where it takes me, but, with the limited roster and the lack of an ability to create additional fighters without purchasing a boost pack (which is now unavailable as well due to THQ going kaput), it can become repetitve. I have come up with an idea that I think is somewhat interesting. With the addition of Pride mode, I have taken the entire roster, and each weight class, and split them into Pride divisions and UFC divisions. To do this, I used a random draw to decide which fighter would start out in each promotion. Also, because Pride weight classes are different, I will use Pride rules during fights, but, Pride will have 7 weight classes just like the UFC.

I also created some rules to follow to make the entire experience more enjoyable for me.

Rules:

- Fighters separated into two promotins (Pride & UFC)

- Promo without a current champion for their weight class will hold a 4-man Grand Prix (all simulated and decided by CPU)

- Promos will run concurrent weight class fight cards to avoid scheduling conflicts and easier scheduling of title fights

- Cross promotion & "Superfights" will not effect a fighters ranking/record in their current promotion

- Fight matchups will be determined by a "ladder" style system. Fighters reputation/record at start will determine placement. After that, fighter performance will be used

- Fighters are bound to a 3-fight "contract" with their promotion. (i) champions have a automatic 3-fight extension at the expiration of their contract. (ii) fighters may be "cut" after their 3-fight contract and ove on to the other promotion. (iii) I have total power when it comes to moving fighters after 3-fight deal to a new promotion to strengthen the roster of the opposing promotion. (iv) I may also vacate titles, if needed, during fighter movement

- Age is not a factor. This means that all fighters are in play and available (i.e. Chuck Liddell, Don Frye, Dan Severn, etc.).

- If fighter loses 3 fights in a row, they must move to the opposing promotion. (i) if fighter then loses 3 consecutive fights in opposing promotion, he may be retired due to "inability."

- If a UFC title holder is selected for Pride, then that fighter will be the Pride champion for that weight class and the UFC will hold a Grand Prix...and vice versa

- 5 straight title defenses = HOF status

- Last rule is that guys can fight in different weight classes as well.

Some of you may have noticed that the Pride/UFC bantamweight divisions both have champions. That is because Barao is the interim title holder in the UFC and he was selected for the Pride promotion. Interim or not, he is still a champion, so I gave him the Pride title and removed the interim tag from it.

Below, I have listed the #1 contenders for the divisions that have current title holders. I also have listed the 4-man Grand Prix contestants for divisions that do not have champions.

Once the GP's are over, I will be controlling a fighter during the fights. However, during the GP, it will be simulated, so I thought I would share my picks:

UFC FW: Erik Koch
UFC LW: Gray Maynard (Game seems to love Maynard during sims in career mode)
Pride WW: Carlos Condit (I fucking love this GP though - any of these guys could win)
UFC MW: Vitor Belfort (I could see Weidman winning. As a created fighter, his ratings are realistic, but, he's pretty studly)
UFC LHW: Dan Henderson (Guys with heavy hands also fare well with the AI)
Pride HW: Brock Lesnar (THQ overrates this guy every year and it is no different in this iteration. He'll run through the GP and likely start as the Pride HW champ)


I will likely be wrong on all of these. But, if you want send in some predictions. It will be fun to see what some people think will happen.

Question, what are the guys you created rated over all? Such as Chris Weidman?

I purchased the caf boost, but it does not work for me. The highest I can get CAF's is like a 74-76.

I predicted just 2 of 6 GP champions correctly. Now, that the champions for each weight, in each promotion, have been set - fight cards will start to be set. Remember, all fight cards will run concurrent with each other to avoid scheduling conflicts and long layoffs. (i.e. There will be an all UFC WW fight card, all HW fight card, etc.)

Chris Cariaso def. Damacio Page via KO (2nd rnd) *KOTN award

Eddie Wineland def. Antonio Banuelos via KO (2nd rnd)

Brad Pickett def. Miguel Torres via TKO (1st rnd)

Renan Barao def. Demetrious Johnson via TKO (3rd rnd) *FOTN award

Barao defends his title against Johnson and it looks like he'll have a GP final rematch with Brad Pickett up next. A lot of KO's, but, I think that has to do with the additional damage done in the first round (10 minute round).

With the "ladder" system being in place, there is no room to play favorites and these guys will all fight at Pride 42 (once we get around to it) and the matchups will be the following:

UFC 160: Bantamweights

 

Kid Yamamoto def. Charlie Valencia via TKO (1st round) - Not much of a fight. Yamamoto doled out some serious GnP punishment in a quick victory.

Scott Jorgensen def. Takeya Mizugake via TKO (3rd round) - FOTN award. Both these guys went to WAR with each other. Lots of striking and grappling going on. Both guys were worn out at the end and Jorgensen was able to score the TKO while in top position on the ground.

Joseph Benavidez def. Brian Bowles via KO (2nd round) - Benavidez dominated the whole fight and put a BEATING on Bowles. Bad showing for Brian Bowles.

Dominick Cruz (c) def. Urijah Faber via KO (1st round) - Faber was never even in this fight. Post fight numbers show he only landed 4 strikes, while Cruz landed 20 in less than a round. Faber was outgunned and looked really bad.

Looking at the results and the use of the ranking system, all of these guys will be in action @ UFC 167. The matchups will be the following:

Mizugake v Valencia

Bowles v Yamamoto

Faber v Jorgensen
