UFC trying to server two masters.
You are either in the TV business, or the PPV business.
UFC tries to be in the cable/network/PPV business.
UFC has the deepest roster in their history, yet can't piece together more than one or two shows that people care about. If you have read my rants the last three years, you'd have seen this day coming. Too many shows, watered down, & overexposed. We have gotten to the point that a key injury like Hendo can take down an entire show. Think about that.
If they didn't have a million shows & four masters (PPV, FOX, Fuel, FX) to serve, this would not happen. Now the Jones title defense is moved to Toronto, where they had a weak main event (flyweight championship). It's a good show now. Had they not had two shows booked in the first place, 151/152 would have been one good show to begin with instead of two weaker ones.
The FOX deal what it is, can't turn back. The solution is less PPV. Instead of 13 or 14 or whatever they do, cut it to 8. The shows will be better quality, and will do better numbers. You won't have Frankie Edgar or Mighty Mouse main eventing and doing 150,000 buys, so you can match your total buys for the year even with less shows. Improves depth, curtail oversaturation.
Dana is a delusional fool. No matter what he says, MMA is not baseball or basketball and it can NOT be on every day. Everything has a breaking point, and even those sports would not run daily if the nature of the sport did not insist upon it. He can blame Greg Jackson all he wants, but this day was coming, and blaming Jackson is like blaming The Avengers because your card sucked and nobody cared. It's deflecting the real issue.
