Urban Meyer leaving Florida?

So you posted a thread with no link based on what you've heard "many people" say? He just came out and said like 2 weeks ago that he will never coach Notre Dame. Can't see him leaving Florida any time soon. There is absolutely nothing suggesting he will either, so whoever you heard say this is just speculating.

People need to stop buying into talk. Urban Meyer may leave Florida - anything is possible. However, right now, the man has cemented his legacy at the school. He is more revered than Steve Spurrier. He can write his own ticket in that town and on that campus. There would be no reason to leave Florida at any moment in time, let alone after this season.

IMO its more likely he leaves to coach Ohio State in about 4-5 years when Tressel retires.

Meyer is an Ohio boy born and raised, and was an assistant under Earle Bruce, and got his grad degree from the school.

But as much as I said its more likely for him to go to Ohio State, I doubt he leaves Florida any time soon, he's in the heart of the best recruiting state in the nation...

Yes indeed. And unlike Spurrier, he doesn't have to fight with strong Miami or Florida State programs for recruits. He's sitting on top of a big ole pile of talent and can basically write his own checks from here on out. No reason to walk away from all that, at least for the near future.

Not saying I think Meyer is leaving, I'm just saying you can't go by what he says.

Meyer would leave for Notre Dame yesterday if he could get ND to concede on their admissions standards amongst a few other things.

Another poor year of ND football and another good/great year for Meyer might leave ND begging Urb to come and would bend over backwards...to which Meyer would ask for the world.

Eh...I wouldn't go that far...Miami's recruiting under Shannon against CUM has been pretty good.

They pulled Matt Patchan, Janoris Jenkins, Andre Debose, and Xavier Nixon from us, we've pulled Ramon Buchanan, Luther Robinson, Jamal Reid, and Curtis Porter from them.

I actually think Greg Schiano from Rutgers is the next guy to coach there.
I know he keeps saying he's not leaving, but it's just to keep the media off him, I mean come on RUTGERS???? You have to be crazy to pass up PSU to stay at Rutgers.

Nope, won't do it. Would have left for Miami in 2006 if that were the case. Schiano doesn't want to leave Rutgers when Rutgers is giving him the fucking world to keep him. If he goes to Penn State, he has to deal with not being named Joe Paterno.

Urban to ND would be pretty difficult considering how much he would demand in compensation, especially if the speculated figures on Weis' salary are accurate. If this turns out to be another subpar season for ND, it won't happen unless Weis resigns or renegotiates his buyout.

Easier than Florida? "His style of players" are not in Indiana, and they don't want to live in Indiana. They are all in Florida and mostly want to live in the south. He would not leave for the ease of getting recruits, he'd only leave if he was that bored and needed a new challenge.

Notre Dame

Texas - Even though it looks like Muschamp will replace Mack Brown

Oklahoma - Call me crazy, but I think Stoops days are numbered. I also think if Kirk Ferentz for some reason finally decides that he wants an NFL gig, Stoops is Iowa's man leaving the door open in Norman

Penn St.

Ohio St. won't hire another guy with no ties to Ohio. Schiano would be in Happy Valley the second JoePa hangs it up.

Secondly, Yes - Bob Stoops days should be numbered. He's one of the highest payed coaches with some of the best talent in the nation, yet he has completely choked in the big games the last 4 or 5 seasons.. People & the administration in Norman expect a championships in return for the amount of cash they pay him. If they get to a BCS game or better yet, the title game & loose.. His ass in no doubt on the hot seat.

It won't happen for PSU, but after JoePa either retires or passes away, I want to see Turner Gill of Buffalo take that job. IMO he's the next big thing in coaching and I think he'd be a great fit in State College. He'd also discpline kids better than JoePa has lately.
