Vince Young files for bankruptcy

HOUSTON -- Former NFL and University of Texas quarterback Vince Young has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The petition was filed last week in a Houston federal bankruptcy court, listing Young with estimated assets between $500,001 and $1 million and liabilities between $1,001,000 and $10 million. The Houston Chronicle reports no specific details on Young's assets and liabilities were immediately available.

The 30-year-old Young is fighting a pair of lawsuits stemming from a $1.8 million loan obtained in his name during the 2011 NFL lockout.

A court has granted a judgment against Young to Pro Player Funding, a New York company that made the loan.

Pro Player Funding has made several efforts in a Harris County state district court to enforce collection of the judgment, but those efforts remain pending.

Lets completely ignore the fact that there is a loan out right now.

I find it extremely hard to believe that these guys, who know they are getting paid millions, don't put even a small amount away. $3 million put away by Young back then would make this problem go away if it was legit, and still been enough for him never to live comfortably with a decent job.

Young just wasted his money. We all know about the stories of Young throwing huge birthday parties for himself, but even before he stepped onto the field for his first snap, he was spending money. A guy on a previous forum I was on was working as a valet for a club, and he constantly parked Young's vehicle. His Escalade was monogramed with his number on it, and was a Titans-themed interior, and this was just after Young was drafted. He would consistently tip those guys pretty well, so he made some decent money off Young.

It's just common sense, and they deserve to be called out on it. Every last one of them. No way should these athletes ever run out of money, especially when they made the guaranteed money that Young did.

I've invested quite a bit of money. A few months ago, I took out money to purchase a new vehicle and my share of VSN. My investments have sense replenished that money, and more.
