Vote for who you think should be the NFL Defensive ROY. Starting with five options, you can add a vote for "Other" by selecting that in the poll and replying with the name of the player. Should be interesting to see what we come up with, and we will do this for the other awards as well.
 
Sheldon Richardson was a beast this year that I don't think got enough love. That's who gets my vote

Went Star, not just :homer:

He kept those LB's clean, guy was an instant difference maker on this team, his presence clearly showed, in the run game, and with the pass rush.

Kiko and Sheldon both had good years too.
 
I thought STARMAN was just a beast. Not a guy that will eat up a stat sheet, but the few times I watched Starman this year, he stood out. That St. Louis game earlier in the year, he was the guy I thought he'd be coming out of college. Also, first game of the year against Seattle, just a guy that already got the NFL game.

After him, the few times I saw the Jets...Sheldon Richardson was an animal. Late in the year against the Dolphins and Ravens, one of the best ten 34 ends I watched in the NFL this year (Watt, Calais, Wilkerson, Fletcher Cox, Williams from Buffalo, Cameron Jordan who was a revelation this year...and then Richardson, I s'pose). He is so much better in the pro game than he was in college, and he was a big time college player at Mizzou.

I guess I'd go with Alonso next because he was all over the place.

Round it out with Trufant and Mathieu? Random honorable mention to Nickell Robey, who in the one time I noticed him he was all over against Miami late int he season.

I went with Richardson as well. Just a complete, all-around game, and a guy who is stepping in as a leader on the Jets. Definitely overlooked because of some other high-profile rookies (great year for defensive guys) but he would get my vote.
 
I went with Kiko because he is my friend but also because he stepped in and started right away playing every single defensive snap at one of the toughest positions to play in all of football.

Star is an absolute beast but he also had some great dlinemen and linebackers around him. He also didn't play every single snap for Carolina.

I actually think Richardson might be stronger than star. That guy looked unstoppable at times.
