I'm on the fence if I want the Penguins to go crazy and trade for a bunch of UFA's. Simply because to do that we have to give up draft picks and prospects and it doesn't seem worth it to just make a playoff run without Crosby or Malkin. Unless we can trade some late picks and AHLifers, I don't see a reason to rid the team of depth.

Alex Kovalev has been rumoured to come back to the Penguins, but I really don't see a point there. His best days are behind him and I think this would just be a toss away deal. What I wouldn't mind seeing is the Penguins going after Dustin Penner. He's young, he's a solid player and he could be that missing winger the Penguins have always looked for. He does come with a cap hit next season but the Penguins have some space cap wise next year with 9 UFA's and 2 RFA. So I think that would be the perfect move for the Penguins. Get another top 6 forward, put him with Crosby, leave Staal and Malkin on line two and win.

Nashville is bound for a deep run one of these years, they are so consistent it's ridiculous.

This is fairly big for Ottawa, as a first round pick for Fisher is a steal I think. Not saying he isn't worth it, but he just doesn't seem like a 1st rounder to me.

Fisher is Nashville will be a good fit as he isn't all flash and dash, he plays a solid defence game.

I'm not really expecting the Flyers to make a move due to not having any cap room and not really having any glaring needs so it'll probably be another quiet year for them...WAY different than the pre-salary cap era where they made a trade EVERY year haha.

Philly really doesn't need to trade anyone. Baring injuries they are set for a cup run and philly fans will probably be bored to tears on deadline day.

I did read something about Versteeg possibly being headed to philly today but the price was van riemsdyk and a pick so that ain't happening haha.

Yeah definitely not, JVR hasn't been great but he's been much better lately than he was at the beginning of the year. The only move I think might happen is Zherdev being traded, Laviolette clearly doesn't trust him enough to play him if he's getting scratched for Carcillo.

Paul Holmgren really doesn't like drafting in the 1st round does he? I don't know that much about Versteeg, but he has decent numbers this year and he's only 24 so I guess it's not a terrible move.

Now if Toronto can team this first round pick up with Kaberle or some other name player they may have a chance at getting a decent star. Or move up the draft. This has got to be one of those, "he plays like shit now, he has a year left after this and he wont resign, lets get what we can now" type deals. Because we all had to know that he wasn't resigning with the leafs if they were not a playoff team by next year. So might as well move him while he has some value.
