Warren Sapp was a very entertaining guy to watch as a player throughout his NFL career. As an analyst for NFL Network, he has remained just as entertaining, but maybe a bit out there.

The former sack artist has made some bold statements in his day and the latest might give fans in Cleveland something to cheer about. You know, when they're not busy cheering for anything against LeBron James.

Here's what Sapp said about the Cleveland Browns and their chances of being the next team to win their first Super Bowl on NFL Total Access:

"They have a quarterback now, they have a running back -- in (Trent) Richardson and (Brandon) Weeden -- this is what you need to jump-start your franchise. There's no more fumbling on the 1-yard line, there's no more 'Drive' for you to cry over. ... It's the Cleveland Browns. They'll be next."

The Browns franchise has endured more failure than most teams have since rejoining the league in 1999. In that year's draft, they chose Tim Couch with the No. 1 overall pick. In 2007, Derek Anderson threw for 29 touchdowns. Neither turned out the be the answer. Couch ended up getting hurt after being sacked 56 times his rookie season. Anderson, well, we're not quite sure what happened to him.

Calling Weeden, a 28-year-old rookie, the answer at quarterback is a bold statement. Saying he will lead them to a Super Bowl soon is something totally different.

Let's also consider the fact that Weeden will have Ray Lewis and Troy Polamalu chasing him around a combined four games this season. Just ask Colt McCoy how much fun that is.

Ehhh, will be some tough sledding. Still have to compete with 2 monster defenses and an up and coming Bengals team. If they make it to the playoffs they will earn it.

I'm a little surprised at the clairvoyants proclaiming Weeden to be a savior of the Browns before he's played a down in the NFL. Outside of a fluke year here and there, Cleveland seems to be where QB careers go to die.

Agreed, it is a team effort and I don't think the Browns have the team around Weeden and Richardson to make a move. Strive for some progress this season, and make some moves next off-season and we will see where they stand.
 
Not sure if this is the Browns year or not. I wouldn't mind seeing them have a good run though since they are one of the more storied franchises in the league...just not in recent history.

The Browns are storied but that is from the Ravens organization. This Browns organization since 1999 has made the playoffs once. I know they gave the old Browns that stemmed into the Ravens team all the records and everything into the current Cleveland Browns, but point being this organization has never really been good outside of two years.
 
I like the Browns and the fans. Would like to see them do well. But even Bellycheck didnt do well there.
Hopefully theyll bring back Eric Metcalf and Leroy Hoard.
 
Sapp has really been praising the Browns over the last few weeks. He seems to be in love with the additions of Weeden and Richardson.
 
I really don't know how you call a 28 year old rookie the savior. I am 29, and I already feel fucking old. I just don't see how a dude gets seasoned and turns into a viable NFL starter quick enough. you got 7 years out of the guy at QB, and theres no rational reason for expecting him to light it up in a rookie year, or the next. so they pinned their hopes on a 4 year "peak" if they're lucky. Just don't see it happening.

7 years? You must live in a world that QBs dont play until they are damn near 40 regularly. If hes talented, hes gonna play for a long time. Enough of this "hes old" shit, it really doesnt matter. Hes not a RB, WR or DB. Qbs can barely be touched... which is why they play so long. It really comes down to how good he is. From a PURE talent standpoint he can hang with the top QBs in this class, but no one knows what that really means yet.

I hate to say this, but the next team to win their FIRST SB could be the Lions. I don't think they will this year (though you never know) but they could be the next team to win their first.
