Heading out to Jake's game tonight, but, wanted to share with the VSN community that Jake got his first campus invitation letter from Georgia Tech. They offered to have him come up and tour the facility, stadium and eat prior to the game and a letter from Paul Johnson talking about how they will be in touch over the course of the next year and some phone numbers to some of the assistant coaches.
 
I don't know who Jake is, but that's pretty cool. Get him to come to CU, our football team is dogshit so he will get playing time, have a great time in Boulder, and possibly help us restore our dominance!!!!

Tech is a great, great school. That's an awesome opportunity.

Johnson is a damn good coach, and I swear Tech's trainers turn their kids into monsters. I vividly remember playing Jon Dwyer in highschool and he was easily one of the strongest, rawest kids I had come across. and he was big at 190 for a HS kid. He went to tech and iirc in one year he weighed 230 lbs. I've seen this with a number of local kids who've had to opportunity to attend GT as well.

I told him two years ago that GT would be a great fit for him if he was to be lucky enough to get recruited by a D-1 school. Plus, a free education from Georgia Tech? That's pretty fucking awesome! He is 5'9" ~185 right now.

LOL - he's got Miami on his list of schools too. I have no clue if they will show interest, but, he likes them.
 
Congratulations on the success. A D1 school at 5'9" must mean the dude has some game (I won't patronize him by calling him a kid, he's playing a grown man's game, but thats a soapbox for another thread lol). I missed the initial thread but what's most impressive is how this came about after wrecking the ACL. So many people would just say "fuck it I guess football is over" but to suffer such a catastrophic injury especially at that position and to come back and have the big boys still showing some interest is a testament to his character and work ethic. It takes some people their entire 20's to learn to overcome adversity if they ever learn the skill at all

Forgot to mention that we got the invite yesterday in the mail...after we got home from work, so there was no time to RSVP for the game today. Sucks that we are not going to this one, but, the letter gives me a number to call the recruiting coordinator. I will call on Monday and let them know we didn't get the letter till the day before and that he would like another opportunity to come up. The letter was dated Sep 1 2012, but, the post-mark shows it was not sent till Sep 4 2012. Had we received it mid-week, we definitely would have driven up to Atlanta.

Unfortunately for all schools involved, that will do little to sway him...he has a GF of 4 years that he absolutely adores. He's already whipped lol.

I will definitely keep you guys updated of anything that goes on, but, this is going to definitely be a long-road since he is only a Junior. We have this year and next year to go, but, Jake will definitely remember who showed interest first.
