I knew I said I would give him a clean slate, and I did, but Spags is already back in the shithouse with me. The clock management on the final drive was high school level bad. It's funny how people would get on Martz for using too many timeouts, despite the fact no one can point to a single game where a lack of timeouts cost the Rams a win. Spags is the opposite, he simply won't use a timeout until it's too late. 0:20 left, still has two timeouts. They do you little good at that point from near midfield. Spags cost the Rams about :30 of valuable time. BE CONSISTANT STL, Spags better get ripped for this disturbing trend. Last yeat was his "rookie" year, he needs to know how to manage a clock by now, or put someone else in charge of it like Herm Edwards used to do with the Jets. Embarrassing.
And here we go again...went into the game with 4 WR's, and two got hurt. So we had Mark Clayton & Mardy Gillyard on the final drive, along with a limping Amendola, and Bradford is throwing 5 yard outs to TE Daniel Fells. Brandon Gibson would have come in handy, huh? Good thing that 6th DT was active, though.
And what kind of gameplan has a rookie in his first start throwing 55 times (in a close game)? Again, Martz would be ripped to shreds for this, Spags better get the same treatment. Where was SJax in the first half? He had 2 first Q carries.
Bradford played very well, the first INT was a bad throw, Wilson jumped all over that pass. The last INT means nothing, the second hurt, but again, he's just trying to make a play in a situation where he needs to.
The defense can be beat on the edge by the likes of Tim Hightower. Not good. Derek Anderson stinks, but give the DB's some credit, they are pretty good. Bartell had a bad year last year, but he was good in '08 and did a great job today. Atogwe is Atogwe, he's a stud.
The Ryan fumble was the difference. Very frustrating ending.
