Westbrook to be released

Eagles released RB Brian Westbrook.
Westbrook, 31, was apparently not amenable to a major pay cut. Coach Andy Reid indicated that the move was made now as a courtesy "to maximize Brian's chances of landing with another NFL team." The Eagles certainly appear poised to turn the page and move on. Westbrook can still play effectively with a limited workload, but he's also the biggest injury risk in the league. He won't get more than a timeshare job on the open market.

Man I hope not I knew Mcknight and his brother when they played for John Curtis. He was lazy as hell and was nothing but trouble. Although 8 million is alot like you said the only thing that might save reggie is the fact its an uncapped year.

McKnight is a clone of Bush... speed/agility/moves. I don't see why the Saints would spend a 2nd or 3rd on a guy like McKnight when they have Thomas and Bell in the backfield already with a fantastic passing game. I think they got some bigger fish to fry than adding more explosiveness to the offense.

Not shocked. I knew once he had that 2nd concussion, his days as an Eagle were over.

He lost a step before the 2 concussions anyway.

Bush's dimension to the offense cannot be replicated by Thomas or Bell, and you can't just ignore that dimension.

if anything this opens things up...Shady and Weaver will get some good carries, and they can draft a back if they feel the need to add another guy for depth.

Meanwhile it opens up 7mil in cap space... that two starters in the FA market.

I don't think it was so much the concussions, obviously they were a part, but concussions or not he still didn't stay very healthy. Also Shady has huge upside, and Weaver is the short yardage power guy Philly has needed for years. Free cap space is important.
