What's with all the comebacks?

I bet on the Eagles against the 49ers this week. Halfway through the 3rd quarter with The Eagles up 23 to 3 I became rightfully worried there might be a comeback around the corner. So far this season if your team is down 20+ at halftime its something to be happy about.


I'm not a NFL guru, so anyone know any specific reason for this? Or should I just blame it on the lock out?:bored:

There's nothing to blame on anything. It's just the nature of the game. It's like asking why were there 3(*) perfect games that happened in less than a month in baseball? It just happens. No explanation for it.

Coaches aren't helping themselves. It seems they all forgot that running the ball is allowed just because it's become easier to pass. As a result, teams aren't even trying to close out games the way they should. The Vikes have had double digit leads in almost all of their games but I don't think AP has cracked 20 carries in any of them. In Philly, Andy Reid has always been an imbecile in this part of the game and proved it again yesterday. Why does your star back have only 9 rushes while your QB throws 46 passes in a game you have a 20 point lead in? It's lunacy. I know its now a pass-happy league but the object is still to win the game, not pass for the most yards./rant

Dell hit it on the head. Teams are so focused on passing they just don't know what to do when they are up 14+ at halftime anymore.

The Cowboys game comes strictly into my mind here, with Romo throwing two straight pick sixes to let the Lions back in. And then of course the Vikings retards who think they need to preserve AP so they can go 2-14 this year.

Alex Smith still has less that 800 for the year, 4 TDs and 1 INT. The only inflated stat he's got is the Comp% at 10% higher than his career average. So as much as I like blaming the Lockout and Passer-friendly rules to the Newtons and Daltons of the league, it hasn't applied in San Francisco or St. Louis.
