[ALL] Which Final Fantasy would you remake/upgrade?

Was discussing this with a friend, because it feels like Final Fantasy has kind of dropped off in terms of the single player JRPG that it once was (haven't played either MMO's, so no comment on those). It seemed that for a very long time, there was talk of whether or not Final Fantasy VII would be remade with updated graphics, etc...Now, while I am not really a fan of this idea per se, I do think that in some cases (like Final Fantasy) it would be a great way to get people into a great genre, as well as a great collection of games that, maybe by the time they got to them, is less than ideal (I am trying SO hard to just get through ANY of Final Fantasy 13).

So, stupid poll that only like, 5 people are interested in, but who cares. What Final Fantasy would you remake in order to best interest a new generation? Your reasons can be whatever you would like: it's your favorite, you think it would best grab a new player, you think it has the best use of androgyny, etc...Also, the poll options are only pre-PS2 Final Fantasy games. And I included ones that were remade on the DS, because those DS remakes look like dog poop.

I don't expect many votes, but I think that it's a fun topic.

Oh, sorry, last point: Final Fantasy VII is not an option. This is intentional. I will explain why when the inevitable first grouchy post appears.

VIII as it's my favorite and the GOAT imo (overall not just FF). VI would be great aswell, would like to see it get a 3D update.

VI is my favorite, even though I voted for IV. I think that IV I would be able to handle the best, and I think that it would translate the best to a remake.

Otherwise though, I agree about VIII. Like I said VI is my favorite, and because of nostalgia always will be, but after recently replaying VIII, I think that it is the best.

That was one of the Legends games, I think. I'm going off of the top of my head. I left them out because they were actually not part of the Final Fantasy series in Japan...just given that title in the US because of the popularity of FF1.

I believe that they were part of the Saga/Secret of Mana series in Japan. Hence how different they were.

That game was so god damn delightful. That is next on my FF replay. I remember loving it when I first played it.

While I somewhat agree...I think that the same could have been said the last 2 gens of consoles...I think it will definitely happen now, since FF13 is kind of doggy doo.

Yeah these new FF's are all pretty lame. I for one would lose my shit for a PS4 remake of any Final Fantasy VII through IX. :yep:

Since 7 isn't an option I'd have to say 8. I think 9 would be great in HD but I replayed it not too long ago and I feel like it still holds up really well graphic wise so there's no need to devote a team to bringing it into this generation of consoles.

i have never played 1 game in the series. would love to try a current game. but trying to play the older games that i heard are great wouldnt be do-able since they would look old. i understand that the newer games are no so good

You could check out the X HD Collection to get you a pretty good taste of the series and the graphics really do not "look old" at all. I wouldn't touch X-2 though, that's when the downward spiral really began with these games. :shifty:

thats current enough. i was thinking more of the pre ps3/360 gen games as being to old to enjoy graphically. this is remastered so im sure it would be fine
