How was David Carr given a chance? He played on horrible teams with no running game (Dominick Davis' 1000 yard season was a fluke), below average o-lines and only one real offensive weapon (Gaffney never reached his potential with the Texans).
Not to mention he was in a division with the Colts and Titans.
Carr did what he could with what he had.
I knew he was in trouble once I saw Houston play their first game against Dallas on primetime in 2002. I've never seen a team that looked so close to being an NCAA team in the NFL. Expansion or not, the management never gave him what he needed to succeed.
And look at Matt Schaub. He has BETTER teams than Carr ever had and he still can't take them anywhere, and you don't see him getting the boot. :guns:
