hard to say whos the best until they fight eachother and practically none of the fighters on either side have fought each other...plus hellboy hasnt fought in over a year and JZ hasnt had a win in a year and a half.

I don't think you can knock JZ for his losses too much because they were against Aoki and Crusher.

im not knocking him, im just saying if you compare those two lists of fighters directly currently the UFC has the better fighters IMO. on paper Dream's LW's are better i guess but when theres guys who havent fought or won in over a year its hard to say they are currently better than the UFC roster, not to mention the depth of the UFC roster. im not saying these guys are "elite" but they certaintly are top-notch fighters.

Roger Huerta hasn't fought in over a year.
I wouldn't consider Nate Diaz a 'top notch' fighter.
Hermes Franca hasn't been relevant in close to 3 years.

I'll give you Tyson Griffin and Joe Lauzon though.

diaz is 5-2 since coming to the ufc with a close split decision lose to guida and got layed on for 3 rounds by stevenson. like i said he's not an elite fighter but still a good one.

This may be the one division where the talent is similar.

UFC has the top guy and a few great talents (KFlo, Sanchez) and some rising potential superstars (Edgar, Griffin, Maynard) and Guida. But the other promotion has a better collection of top talent in Aoki, Hansen, Thomson, Melendez, JZ, Kawajiri and Ribiero.

Yeah If Kenny can beat BJ thats a huge boost for the UFC rankings. I flirted with Kenny in my top 10 p4p rankings a few months back but he lacks the resume to be legit there.. a win over BJ would easily solidify his spot for me.

good point, if BJ steam rolls him it shows the UFC really only has Penn which I believe to be true, but if K Fed wins it shows that the UFC division it pretty good

BJ has to keep going up to 170 to get a decent fight

Man... can I say draw? UFC has Penn and some guys who can easily become great LW fighters. SF has some more solid talent, but doesn't have the depth that the UFC has. I abstain.

But it really isnt a little pond.. the LW division is one of the deepest in all of the UFC and MMA.. BJ is just the big fish in the big bond eating all the other ones. The LW division is a dozen+ deep and very even after BJ.
