Who is the Best Tight End in football?

I'm just wondering on what your guys opinions are on who the best Tight End in the NFL today is...

I got into a pretty heated argument the other day because I personally think It's Jason Witten, because he is beast. Apparently I'm a homer though.

Anyways, what's your opinion?
 
Obviously Witten is extremely talented, but I had to go with Tony Gonzalez. I respect Gonzo's whole career, and when you have Tony Romo, Marion Barber, and Terrell Owens things are probably a bit easier than Damon Huard, Dwayne Bowe, and Larry Johnson.

Gonzo just set his career high in yardage last year, so I'm paying him his respect.
 
I like Witten and Daniels out in Houston. But I personally got to go with Antonio Gates still.
 
Im going to vote witten mainly because he is playing well this year but I attribute that to Romo always locking on to him and going to him the majority of the time. Not taking anything from witten, But I believe that there are more talented TEs out there who dont have the luxury of a QB looking to give them the ball every damn play. IMo, that is what made me sick about romo this year as he was touted as playing great but he was really just average as he looked to pass to witten every damn play. He wouldnt make solid throws or reads, hed just look for witten on the curls,seams whatever he would run and give him the ball. That is the reason why witten lead this team in catches and yards at one point and in games romo would stuggled when witten was locked up....see bengals game. But talent wise, I think tony G is the best in the game. WHat he does to this day is still amazing despite him playing on the shitty chiefs. He consistently makes big plays, crazy catches, and displays athleticism rare for the T.E position. I also like k 2 as well. Imo, he has the best hands of any T.E in the league. Hes like a bulked up wideout in a 3 point stance.

Romo makes beautiful throws in the pocket, and on the run. No homer. Also Witten is so freakin clutch. I think he's the best TE in the league no matter what, with Gonzalez at a very close 2nd. Antonio Gates is pathetic at blocking, at quite frankly has the best Running Back, and arguably a top 5 Quarterback... and if you don't agree look at his stats. So it either goes to Tony G or Witten in my book.

I don't like true receiving TEs.. I'm more old fashioned I guess. My TE needs to be a great run blocker and good in pass protection BEFORE he's a great WR.

Haven't seen much of these guys play so I can't say much about their skills, so I just went with other.

i state the previous arguements about how much help and distractions witten has, when u have to worry about barber owens and williams among others, who is really left to cover you? he is good tho, top 5 definately...but i went Gonzo...he's consistently the best in the league, and does the most with the least...and he paved the way for this "new age" tight end...these athletic basketball players that have been so successful at TE, Gonzo was one of the first...he's the best TE in football...especially if you talk career numbers too...witten is banged up right now, gates is banged up, shockey is always injured, winslow has some injury problems, so either way however this question is meant to be, best this year/right now or ovr just best TE...I think Gonzo has it he gets no credit from anybody

Oh yeah and Witten is nowhere close to being the best blocking TE in football, sorry
