Why Another NBA Team Needs to Sign Lamar Odom

I agree with this article. Last year the Lakers were great, this coming form a guy who hates them. They lost Ariza, who was a great defender and greatly improved on his shooting ability, namely his 3pt shooting ability. But, they added a guy much much better then Ariza who can constantly knock down a shot and is just as great, even better then Ariza is at defense. If the lakers resign Odom they will most likely repeat.
 
You mention Cleveland, Boston and Orlando getting better. That has nothing to do with the Lakers during the regular season. They're not worried about East teams until the Finals. You win you're conference first, then go after the ship.

And failing to mention an arguably improved San Antonio? The Lakers won't have a cake walk in the West like people think.
 
I kinda sorta understand the sentiment but, correct me if I'm wrong, Odom's been on the team for quite awhile and they have 1ring. Doesn't sound like much of a guarantee.

Will they be the favorites? Sure.

Are they guaranteed to repeat? No.
 
lol saying the lakers will repeat is like boston fans last year saying the celtics would repeat of course the celtics were old and decrepid and these lakers are great and fantastic :) but i would give the lakers a 60% chance at repeating b/c with pau gasol just getting better, bynum hopefully coming back to form as one of the up and coming dominant forces, ron artest and his TOUGH D

and of course that 60 is dependant on odom coming back without odom i think our chances for a repeat would be in the 20-30 category maybe lower

You do realize that NBA teams don't sign players just so another team can't have them right?

Preventing a great piece from being added to an already stacked team, is sometimes more important than looking out for your own team's interests.

When Pau Gasol was traded to the Lakers, the Grizzlies eventually realized this. The other NBA teams that didn't try to get Gasol hard enough, also realized that this year.

No, if your a shitty team then building for the future is more important than trying to look out for other title contending teams or trying to not let the rich get richer.

Also, lol at the Grizzlies realizing they should've kept Gasol, like the Grizzlies were really eyeing a title run or cared about teams who were.

Denver can come back stronger,,,,Portland can step it up....King James can finally Rise...or The Celtics can reclaim their thrown...n dont forget about San Antonio...

The Lakers are the champs....but this isnt the 96 Bulls....this team is beatable and far from invincible

What are you trying to say? That NBA teams should take away former Laker pieces just to prevent L.A. from winning a title? That may very well be the dumbest thing I have heard this entire month. News out of the NBA today. Lamar Odom has just been signed to Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder sources are telling us the contract is $50 M/5 Years and that the management made the deal to prevent the Los Angeles Lakers from winning an NBA Championship.

Yeah... makes perfect sense.
 
Lakers barely got by a beat up Houston squad. You can't crown them champions of 2009-2010 when anything can happen. Lakers' bench still isn't deep and Derek Fisher is another year older.
