[ALL] Will you be downloading or buying plastic discs still?

I was just about to preorder Forza when I thought...hmm I don't need to preorder it. I can just buy my system and come home and download the games when I want. I think I might do that. Although at launch it maybe a hairy time. Maybe I buy Forza on Disc so I don't have to rely on launch servers.

What will you do?

It depends really. If they follow suit from steam and run some sales where I can get the game alot cheaper then what I can get at gamestop,bestbuy, etc then I am all for digital downloads.

I want to do digital only someday, but on the MS side they need to get more f'n realistic with their digital prices. MK9 was 40 bucks as a Games on Demand game until yesterday. 40 bucks!

I'll be buying discs. At least on the PS3, I always found disc based games cheaper than digital. They talk about how they are saving the planet and money by not making boxes, covers, booklets but the consumer doesn't seem to see any of it back (not saying I expect 100%). An added bonus but not that important, is that I can lend the disc out to someone else, sale it (PS4) or give it away on VSN.

whoever creates a way to resell (used) digital copies of games, and then turn that into a rental/shared service will make billions... i cant help but thing MS/Sony are working on such a thing as we speak...

Nobody is even mentioning the most important factor for the digital games, which is how quickly they download day 1. I remember Price having to wait like 2 days to get his digital version of MLB The Show to work :lol2:.

I will probably go hard copy until I see that there are no issues with the downloading process.

This and competitive pricing is what has me sticking to physical for the time being.

That problem is solved by allowing people to pre-load the game on their console a few days before launch and letting them activate it as soon as it's officially out.

We could do it at VSN. People could send us their games and we give them to Rudi to burn to disc and send back out.

I love the convenience of digital but like others have said, what's the point if they are priced the same? If they actually get their shit together and offer significantly cheaper prices and frequent sales like Steam does, then I'm all for it. But if they are going to go the M$ Games on Demand route Best Buy and Amazon will still be getting my money.
