'Xbox Game Room' and 2010 Project Natal launch leaked in CES interview

Microsoft's Channel 9 developer community site accidentally posted a video interview with Robbie Bach, President of the Entertainment & Devices Division, several hours before the company's annual CES press conference. Initially tweeted by @ch9, the video was pulled, as evidenced by this tweet from none other than @microsoft: "Sorry, spoke too soon, or, tweeted too soon. This video later tonight."

Vigilant tipster Iced_Eagle wrote us just after the video was pulled, giving us a quick breakdown. "Go to the 11:53 mark in the video to hear them start discussing Game Room," our tipster writes. "They aren't totally concrete on the details, but they talk about how this is supposed to bring back that retro fun to gaming." That sounds an awful lot like that consumer survey we spotted in October for a virtual Avatar arcade, one of the potential titles of which was "Game Room." You don't say ...

Iced_Eagle also unsurprisingly reports, "In the video they confirm Natal is on for this year." Considering everyone from Ubisoft's Yves Guillemot to Microsoft's own Steve Ballmer have alluded to a 2010 release, we're not the least bit surprised. But if they're still calling it Project Natal in this video, that means we're probably looking to E3 for an official reveal, with branding and all.

Microsoft's CES keynote begins at 9:30pm Eastern and we'll be delivering all the news straight from Las Vegas.

i dont see whats wrong with this idea. PS home was only an issue because of their repeated fail to launch....the delays made people get irritated which in turn made people have a negetive impression of home.

The concept and final product that PS put out is pretty cool. I dont use it, but its also no skin off my back to have it there. Same would apply to XBL....im sure some people would find some joy with a "home" like PSN has....probably kids....but isnt that what its all about anymore? The wii and DS kill the market because they are designed with the kids in mind. And they are affordable. MS and Sony want a piece of that market
 
I think you are right Maynard, and to be fair to PS home the Red Bull Air Race & Flug tag are pretty fun mini games to play, perhaps MS will have some good mini arcade games
 
As "useless" as Home is on PS3, it apparently has been a real money grab for Sony, if you can believe it. I just got finished listening to the 1Up podcast and John Davison (I think that's his name. Former 1Up/EGM producer and now ith GamePro) was talking about how much money Home has been raking in. Crazy.

Also, on a side note about Natal. On the same podcast they were talking about how MS has been diligently trying to manufacture the thing so that it meets the price point that everyone has been expecting, $100 or less. The rumors are that they have drastically been pairing it down and that when it ships it's only going to be able to support games like that dodgeball demo we saw at E3. The processor in the unit would not be able to handle games like Burnout Paradise and even certain things that were rumored in Halo Reach.
 
I was dicking around in Home last night, and it doesn't surprise me how much money they make. Every outfit costs $1, furniture can cost up to $10 (!) and new homes are around $5.

If you walk around enough, you'll see tons of people wearing different outfits outside of the defaults. It is turning into Second Life on the PS3, with people dancing and hanging out in bars and shit.

That sounds pretty gay to me, but whatever. I enjoy the poker rooms and a few of the other games. It's not as bare bones as it was before...but now some shit is costing more money.
 
$10 for a piece of furniture? WTF?!?

The last time I checked it was maybe a month ago? I unlocked my batcave from AA and it was sweet ass. I also have Cole's clothing from inFamous. I checked out the R&C area and the Resistance area and they were pretty boobies.
 
There are a ton of different areas now. EA Sports has poker and car racing, SOCOM has a place where you can go with your clan and use a telestrator to demo maps, SodiumOne has futuristic tank games....

it's not horrible, but I'm not "that guy."
