2 fights, 2 wins, it's not the wins that matter, he was supposed to win, Monson is a shell of himself and Ishii was in over his head, but Fedor fought smart

He wasn't doing his wild routine, he kept his distance, stayed composed, kept to a game plan, didn't just wing it

Only quality fight a see for him outside of zuffa or bellator would be Sergei, that would be a great fight in DREAM

I said when he got cut that I didn't buy the idea he was finished. He never really looked awful in his losses. He got caught by Werdum, that happens. He lost the Silva fight decisively, but it's not like he was blown out, he was just overpowered by a massive human with great skills. He had Hendo on the ropes, and got caught with that sneaky uppercut.

Monson & Ishii are not great wins, but they are not total cans, either. They are live opponents at least, and honestly they are among the best available at this point. Remember, Cormier couldn't finish Monson, either.

I don't think Fedor will ever be the Fedor of old, but I think he can be competitive with anybody. He is always just one of those big bombs away from finishing anyone, and he's still tough as nails and takes a beating to finish. And if he gets one of his big KO's on a big stage, the hype would return.

The problem now, is who else can he fight? I don't think Sergei has even been cut from Zuffa. Doubt Bellator will pay him for a Konrad fight, and Fedor isn't doing a tourny. Nobody wants to see Arlovski II or Sylvia II, he already killed them.

There is a Brett Rogers rematch.

After that, dust. His best bet may be to wait for Zuffa castoffs.

The best thing for Fedor would be for Barnett to lose a war to either Cormier or somebody else, because you just know Zuffa wants to cut him. But if Barnett gets KO'd or something a Fedor fight loses a lot of steam.
 
Eh... These two wins give me some hope but I still don't know that he's changed his training and approach enough to be a real factor again to any extent. He still looked very very flat-footed against Ishii. He'll still have that bomb to put down nearly anyone but the game has evolved and he hasn't.
 
Yeah, Lashley is another one, but who knows if Lashley even takes that fight? His people coddle him and he has turned down dangerous fights before.

If i'm advising Lashley, I take that fight in a second. That's the kind of win Lashley needs for people to take him seriously. Who cares if he loses? He's so far off the radar now that it doesn't even matter, he'll be in the same place he's in right now anyway.

That would be a great fight for ProElite to put together. Even M1 for Showtime, assuming that deal isn't dead, and if Fedor wants to play ball and help his comrades.

You mean walking forward and throwing wildly isn't what brought Fedor his great success in Pride? :yao:

Did he just get lazy or not take Big Foot and Hendo seriously? Against Werdum, he just made a stupid mistake.
 
In pride he fought alot smarter, used his ground game, GnP, take downs, etc...he wasn't primarily a striker

He started swinging wild way later and in affliction were he didn't look as in good of shape
 
I believe lack of training led to brawler fedor, when you're not in shape you want to end things quicker, he never showed signs of tiring in early pride run, but later on he would look winded in longer fights, still had heart though to keep going

Fighting from underneath Big Foot with the crowd going nuts was one of my favorite moments of the year.
 
I think the Bigfoot and Hendo was a part of Fedor's poor training conditions finally catching up with him. That old Hammerhouse shit doesn't fly anymore.
