When and how did you start listening to the Genres that you listen to now or use to listen to? I'm sure most of you whitey's didn't come out the womb listening to rap(no racist)
My parents are old school and they had some old school radio always playing so for my first years I listened to the oldies like Kool and the Gang, Prince, Cameo, The Gap Band, The Temptations, Commoders, Earth Wind and Fire, etc....
That was all I knew back then.
Then I found rap at 6. I remember the first rap song I ever heard was Mo Money Mo Problems. I remember I was in the car with my cousins and aunt, I still remember thinking "wow wtf is this it's awesome"
I was at the age where I was young enough to just pick up on whatever my bigger brother brought around. Next I'm pretty sure was techno mainly the group Prodigy. I fell in love with Smack My Bitch Up and Vodoo People. But for years that was the only techno group I knew.
Then somehow someway after transfering to the most ghetto and baddest school this side of Houston my brother started listening to rock. The main 2 I remember is Korn and Marylin Manson, I use to jam them like they were the only 2 artist out there.
I always liked old school Dre but I was never big on oldschool rap because the stuff that was on the radio was still good back then. Then around 7 or 8th grade I completely gave up on the radio and started digging through old school rap, haha I rememeber finding a Straight Outta Compton Cd in my sisters house and I jammed that CD for months like it was brand new.
Well that's the jist of it, I picked up other little fads along the way but nothing important.
