Kind of like the top albums thread, only with MOVIES!
I don't watch a ton of movies, but I usually try to catch the biggest ones each year. So this is my top 5. I am not a movie critic but I'll put a little info with each on why.
5. The Social Network. Probably the least mind involving of the top five films on my list, which for me is weird because I have a real hard time "buying into" movies. Maybe it is a little high than I would have later one but since I recently watched it, it was stuck in my head for this list.
4. 127 Hours. Literally watched this an hour ago and I got to say it was great. Franco did a real great job. Towards the end when he was having flashbacks on his life and times with his family really brought me into as I thought of myself and what I could possibly think about nearing death. While I am in college I am constantly thinking about what I want to be doing with the rest of my life, what is important to me and not. And this movie really got me to think about what I think is important.
3. Inception. Saw this the week it came out and I was very intrigued like many when I first saw it. I wasn't as shocked or perplexed as many on here were but I still valued it as a great movie. I kind of watched it, thought about it, and decided its open of interpretation depending on who sees it and it doesn't have a definitive ending. So I kind of moved passed it. I watched it in November again, and really wasn't that interested in watching it again, fell asleep 30 minutes in.
2. Black Swan. Absolutely loved this movie. Until I realized the obvious number one, I considered this to be my favorite movie of 2010. I was hooked almost all the way through, and I love trying to figure out how people view the world differently than the way I do. And this movie really put you in the mind of the life of a dancer, what is important, how do they view people, and how they got that way. Constantly throughout the movie I was analyzing the story and then analyzing the characters. Again a recently watched film that maybe too high later on, but right now, I loved it.
1. Toy Story 3. The child in me couldn't put this lower than the top spot. I really felt the connection to the film and I believe the entire series sort of followed my age groups life (20). Spoiler to the ending, but at the end when Andy gave away his toys and went off to college, it was exactly how I felt when I left for a college about a year ago. He was leaving his childhood behind and now it really is over. And you have to cherish those memories and move on to the next stage in your life. It was the first movie I cried to since Mufasa died when I was 5. The movie brought me back to the emotions I had when I left for college and captured it perfectly.
