E3 2013: Zelda Wind Waker HD Release Window Announced

Nintendo has announced that The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will hit Wii U in October in the West and September in Japan.

Wind Waker HD will feature 1080p graphics and uses shaders to better refine textures and improve character expression. On Wii U, Nintendo is adding multiple new features including a “speed up” button to allow your boat to travel faster. Other changes have yet to be revealed.

Nintendo is also bringing back the Tingle Tuner (which involved connecting the Game Boy Advance to the GameCube in the original Wind Waker) to the Wii U. Players will also be able to post messages to Miiverse, which exist within the game world as notes in a bottle. Notes will then wash ashore in other players' games.

So, with Zelda currently on the brain thanks to A Link Between Worlds, the sexy WiiU Wind Waker version has been quietly calling my name.

Now, I can swing $300 with no real problem, but I want to know if anyone heard of any Black Friday deals for it that don't require too much insanity. I'm too lazy to do the research.

Also, man, watching the Quick Look for this game and it is just fucking gorgeous. Having never played to completion a Zelda post A Link to the Past, and having only played the beginning of this, I think that I'm ready to give it a shot.

I am really thinking about pulling the trigger on this console bundle with the reward points I have in my account at work. It makes sense as I know the Mario World and Mario Kart games on the horizon would be must plays for me. Time to sell the Wii!
 
I have the Wii U, haven't got to wind waker HD tho, but Marios Bros U and Lugi Wii U are fucking amazing. Donkey Kong coming soon, Mario 3D land and then super smash and mario kart on the horizon, now is the time to grab a Wii U. I haven't seen any better deals around tho than the $300
 
Yeah, that Zelda special edition console has my name on it. I'll be ordering it on Monday. There are just too many cool first party titles on Nintendo that are fun for everybody to play. Playing Mario Kart, Mario or Zelda games never gets old.
