VSN runs off a combination of donations, ads and personal contributions from the owners and admins of the site. VSN can function without donations, but they do go a way to help with the site. They can help pay for hosting or for a new mod/upgrade for the forum, new skins, prizes for giveaways, etc. You don't have a to donate, but if you do, there are two ways to do so.
The first is by clicking on the Donate tab at the at the top. This takes you to a screen where you can select a certain amount to send to the site owners via PayPal. You can also click the tab for the VSN Store where you can shop for anything on Amazon.com and a portion of the sale goes back to VSN.
We currently have three levels for donators. The first are Subscribers ($10-40), who have a green name. The second are Double Donators ($40-100), who have a blue name. The third are Altruists ($100 or more), noted by their burgundy name.
If you donate to VSN, here is what you receive. It is not much, but there are a couple perks to it.
1.) Access to a private forum, the Subscriber Lounge. Plenty of good stuff can be found in here.
2.) Since The Locker Room is no-holds barred, the Subscriber Lounge will be home to any topic that you want to label "serious." By doing so, any post tagged this way will present with a "SRS" prefix and will be free from trolling.
3.) You get a donator award for each level of donation status reached. There are three tiers of donator awards:
Subscriber- Green
Double Donator- Light Blue
Altruist- Burgundy
4.) Access to the VSN Jail, where you can troll banned or suspended members.
5.) Access to the Chat Box, the area for small talk on the site. If you are already a registered member here before 10-3-12, you will automatically be grandfathered access to the Chat Box. The only other exception to this is if you are in a gaming league and need access to it.
6.) You will have access to any information regarding VSN. It won't be anything earth shattering, but if a new league is being formed and you want to reserve your spot, that thread will appear first in the Subscriber Forum. Or if a new skin is being added to the site, subscribers will have early access to it, or any new modifications or featured on the site.
