All- VSN is undergoing some changes. If you haven't seen in the Subscribers forum already, we have a new skin being developed by our very own Albidnis. This is one of the things we are going to use to attract new members to the forum.
The second thing we are doing is consolidating some of our forums that don't see much activity. We've already consolidated two forums, the VSN Member Content forums and the Franchising forums. Thread prefixes are available to attach to the threads in each forum so people know what category they fall under.
We have a third group that we want to consolidate, but that is going to depend entirely on the membership of VSN.
Over the past year, the Chat Box has consumed a lot of activity here on the forums. Let me first state that we have no plans to remove or change the Chat Box, as it's here to stay on VSN. However, sports discussion is happening on the Chat Box, before any sort of thread is being posted in the respective sports forum. Gameday discussion has always happened in the Chat Box, but especially over the past four months, a lot of discussion has taken to the Chat Box for other things.
So, the community of VSN has a choice to make, and that choice will be dictated entirely by how each individual decides to use VSN. over the next two months. If the sports forums don't see a large increase in both thread and posts during the next two months, we will consolidate the sports discussion forums into one general forum. Just like the other sections, it does us no good to potential members to see inactive threads all over the place, where if we consolidate into one, it immediately looks more active without doing anything.
Progress will be measured by doubling the average post count over that time, as well as most of the sports forums having threads that aren't from the previous 2-4 weeks on the first page (exceptions will be made for the NHL, Other Sports and Soccer forums so long as they have daily posts in them.)
You guys have until after the Super Bowl to make this happen, or we will enact the consolidation over the sports forum. Bill and I are working on a lot of things, including a person I know personally to run our social media for us, but we have to make sure we at least appear active on the forum front before we do that. Otherwise, we are wasting everyone's effort. The choice is entirely up to you all, and for a forum that consistently has 200 active accounts on it each day, this should be an easy accomplishment.
