I forgot earlier today I was using a stock 73 or 74 Skyline for the Japanese beginner race, and it was pretty tough.

Coming down the straight on the last lap the 2nd place car was gaining fast so I started toying with him to block him and he spun out without me even touching him :laugh:

I've got a pic of it to upload tomorrow

I am not hitting the brakes at all, but I may have to switch to manual to leave it in 3rd for the challenge. I keep riding up in the wall or turn sharply into the cones, probably because I keep getting into 4th gear when I leave it on automatic.

It is always funny to see the "zombie" a.i. screw up and look human, this is the race where the 2nd place car spun out untouched while he was trying to get past me

I don't like doing the shifting on Challenges, it's just easier to get through them on automatic, but some of these I guess I am gonna have to Nut up or Shut up.

I haven't tried it with an automatic, but I have noticed quite often that the gear suggestion thingy will often suggest a lower gear than what is actually needed...i.e. I know I can take a turn in 3rd and not lose anything, but the game keeps telling me I should be in 2nd

So if you are in an automatic will it drop to 2nd?

Only if you brake enough or slow down enough. It's pretty quick on shifting up from what I have noticed.

IF you want to get gold on some of the licenses you NEED manual IMO. You can brake much later sometime by downshifting accel out quicker.....big advantage!

Go to your in-game photo album, then export pictures to xmb photo album.

Leave the game, then go to your xmb photo album, from their highlight the images you want to transfer, hit triangle, then hit copy to send them to a thumb drive or external hardrive that you hookup via usb.




I'm raging here, I'm not quitting until I pass the Top Gear intermediate challenge (lotus). I've came so close so many times, I always end up slamming into the first place car around the last 2 turns. Well, that is if I can even get to that point before DQ'ing :club:

FINALLY

I'm shaking so much, I must have tried that easily 75 times, finally beat it by forcing the first place car off the track on the very last turn :cool:

My tips:

Turn Skid Recovery ON and leave TC at 5.

Gotta pass the first car at the first turn, then 3 at the tire wall, and you can gain 3-4 as you are braking for hammerhead.

You should be in 5th approaching the follow through, drop to 3rd gear as suggested, as soon as you hit the follow through, its full throttle all the way across the tarmac until you need to brake.

As you are starting lap 2 you should be moving into 3rd, then it is all about repeating the same maneuvers although the first place car is quick so you have to push it all the way until the last 2 turns and pass him at Gambon ftw.

It is NOT easy and you will get pissed off. Good luck.

I will say that I just finished the british lightweights race in the lotus that I won, and noone could touch me on the Top Gear track, I feel untouchable on that thing now :laugh:

So are you saying driving the Lotus in the A-SPEC races helped with the Top Gear challenge? I was able to get bronze on it and that was as much as I was willing to do. It's maddening.

No, the other way around. I wanted to Gold the Top Gear challenge to win a lotus, and seeing as I spent over an hour mastering the turns on that track, when I went to the A-spec race, they couldn't touch me.
