Update for anyone who still plays this game.

Yamauchi detailed fifteen new pieces of content that the update will provide:

Simplified interior view added to all standard cars
User control of the weather change feature
Added a setting sheet feature allowing you to save multiple car settings
            Spec 2.0 opening movie
            Improved UI response and usability
            Replay fast forward/rewind
Mid-race save feature for endurance races
Expanded online lounge features (Narrowing down car types, shuffle races)
Expansion of the B-Spec remote race you can play from gran-turismo.com (a graph display now shows changes in race rankings)
Expanded Photo travel features (you can now take photos of cars together with your avatar)
Added a "NASCAR Pit Scene" stage to Photo Travel
Added eleven 2011 model NASCAR cars
Added the Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motor Sport
            Improved physics and AI
Support for the Logitec G25/G27 Steering wheel

Yamauchi also reiterated that more content is coming in the future, writing that "For the DLC we're preparing a racing car pack, a course pack, and a racing gear pack. I'll let you know more about that soon."

The Spec 2.0 update is set to arrive for free next week. No specific release date or pricing has been announced for the DLC.

Popped this in for the first time...wow! I'm glad I bought a PS3 again..I haven't played GT since I owned a PS2 (or was it 1? lol)...amazing graphics and seems to be a "deep" game...can't wait to dig into further this weekend.

Link: Gran Turismo 5 Goes Interstellar

Following on from the Tweet detailing GT Academy‘s online participation, Kazunori Yamauchi has also Tweeted figures about GT5′s cumulative online racing to date – a truly staggering 36.4 billion miles in the 577 days since launch!

Numbers of this magnitude are difficult to comprehend without context, so here’s some equivalents:
                    • GT5 players have driven the distance from the Earth to the Sun. And back. 200 times.
                    • Or the distance from the Sun to Neptune. And back. Thirteen times.
                    • In under 2 years GT5 players have driven three times further than Voyager 1 has managed in 35 years.
                    • We’d still take 1,367 years to drive GT5 to our nearest star, Proxima Centauri…

The average increase in distance is 63 million miles a day, with GT5′s online players covering the same distance in 2 days as the entire GT Academy 2012 competition has so far! This corresponds to 2.6 million mph or around 730 miles per second, enough to:
                    • Equal the record distance in the Nürburgring 24hr in 3.4 seconds
                    • Drive from San Francisco to New York in 3.5 seconds
                    • Drive from New York to London in 4.7 seconds
                    • Drive from London to Sydney in 14.4 seconds
                    • Drive around the Earth in the time it took you to read this article
                    • Drive to the Moon in 5 minutes 27 seconds

Even though the average online race in Gran Turismo 5 is only just over 12 miles in length, the community as a whole is certainly getting their money’s worth from the game with each player driving nearly 500 online miles.

So me and amarant played a shit ton online last night. We raced some F1 cars at Indianapolis with a bunch of people for awhile, then we switched over to some NASCAR racing at Daytona. We had so much damn fun even though some of the drivers couldn't keep a line very well. Pretty intense racing though. Definitely has me excited for NASCAR The Game this fall.

I probably wont be on today or tonight, but I'll definitely be on Friday and/or Saturday.

I kind of torn on the tracks. Both games leave out some very famous real-life tracks (fictional tracks are whatever for me, don't care all too much, but GT5's fictional tracks are better overall). But Forza left out Monza, Spa, Daytona (love the road course), and GT5 left out a crap ton of awesome real-life tracks. Both games need to add some real-life street circuits for the next games. Forza definitely takes it overall with car customization and the driving physics. The thing that I really love about GT5 is the ability to have some races at night and/or in the rain.

Rain is a pain in the ass to race in with Grand Touring cars, but it's still an awesome feature. I'm really hoping since they've added night time to Forza Horizon, that night racing will be in Forza 5. WANT SO BAD!!!

I like the parts upgrading and tuning just a tad better in GT5, but the ability to customize/buy/sell liveries in Forza just demolishes what edge GT had in that department.

Oh, and another thing that I love about GT5: they have endurance racing in the single player career, and some of the races are actually real (like 24 Hours at Nüburgring and 24 Hours of Le Mans). Forza used to have some endurance, but they took it out in 4. Bastards. Wish forza would add some endurance racing at Sebring, Le Mans and Nürb for 5.

Will definitely hit you up next time I see you playing GT5, I fired it back up a few weeks ago to update the game (11 patches ) but looking forward to getting some races in and to continue my SP Career.

Got the Collector's Edition when this game was released.
