EA says "Xbox 360 is maxed out"....PS3 not.

Microsoft might be busy extending and building on the Xbox 360's capabilities with Project Natal and all manner of NXE and Live updates, but it sounds like some of their third-party devs think they're running out of headroom -- in an interview with the Official Xbox Magazine, EA senior VP Patrick Soderlund said that "we've maxed out the 360 but we haven't maxed out the PS3." That's an interesting parallel to what Miyamoto was just saying about the Wii, of course, but it doesn't seem like the situation is entirely dire: Soderlund also said that he's "truly impressed" with the 360 and that he "would have a headache" if he were running Sony. Still, that doesn't bode well for Microsoft's planned 10-year 360 lifecycle if it's true -- we'll see if Redmond has something new for us before 2015 after all.

    :fly::fly::fly::fly:

Seems like xbox 360 hit that ceiling a little early in its lifespan eh? :confused2:

This is EA, the same company who usually just puts a fresh coat of paint over there sequels and calls it a day.

I agree that EA sucks ass but they are one of the, if not the biggest gaming company in the world and also make the most games that are available on both consoles.

no no, they buy the companies that make the games.

EA isn't making Mass Effect 2, but they'll take all the credit for it's success. Game will be tits with or without the EA stamp on it.

          Anyways,

The early indications a ways back was that we'd have new consoles late 2011 if not 2012.

Also, there's nothing wrong with what's coming out on the 360. The games are fun, they look wicked and all that jazz.

          Who cares right now?

Yeah, EA has bought up like 90% of the smaller developing companies.

The PS3 is a powerful piece of hardware.. this doesn't come as much of a shock. What I think will be interesting is how good XBox's next installment will be compared to the PS3. Playstation could probably compete with a new XBox and produce the same quality of product, but the PS3 would be much cheaper than the new XBox.

The thing that made me is laugh is like the last line, where it says "This doesn't bode well for the 360's projected 10 year life cycle." Is this guy serious? No chance the 360 will have a life cycle like that. I'm guessing it will be more like the 5 years mark when MS just completely abandons the 360 like they did with the original Xbox.

Microsoft did great in this current gens console war. If they can produce another system that doesn't crash and improves on everything they will be very successful in the next gen.

Pumping out new consoles every 5 years isn't exactly profitable. MS abandoned the original xbox pretty quickly and it would be funny if they do the same. All I'm saying is, I know my PS3 will keep me entertained long before I have to shell out more cash to buy the "next gen" console because PS3 makes it hard so every year shit gets more & more impressive for the developers who work to push the hardware to it's limits.

look at the PS2, shit is still getting released for it.

They may have done better than Sony up to this point but the Wii shat all over both of both MS and Sony.

But Sony will have a lot longer of a lifespan to make up for it just because we really haven't seen the full potential the system. Which is scary considering just how good games like MGS4 and GT5 look already.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we started to hear Xbox 720 rumblings next E3 with a Fall '11 release.

I doubt we'll see a new console that early. The economy just sucks too much.

What on planet earth would EA know about maxing out anything ?

Its pretty easy to max somethig out when the engine you base things on is 2 generations old. They maxed out there ability to polish horseshit.

Let me know when Bungie ,Ubi ,Epic , Capcom or any company with real programmers says this.
Best reason to have a license.
