Release dates for Madden 10 Player Ratings

I hear you. It's like I find it hard to see that a low draft choice can come in and be rated about 20 points higher than a same-position player drafted higher with a year already in the league.

I was referring to a rookie QB from Clemson, Cullen Haper, that EA listed when they released all the rookie player ratings after the draft. However, when I went to see what team drafted him, I can't actually find an NFL team [NFL.com-I'll keep looking] that did....which makes it even more bizarre that EA would give Harper an OVR of 52 under their "new" system and turn around give Josh Johnson on the Bucs a 38, as posted by someone here on VSN that, I believe, got it from Pastapadre's site, and possibly will be confirmed Tuesday when EA puts out the team player ratings. JJ was at least drafted and has a year in the NFL, regardless of the lack of playing time. At least he should be rated a 52, the same as Harper, lol. And BTW, I had better success with Garcia in '09, which doesn't say a lot.

OVRs, per se, don't mean much to me in the total scheme, but I found, like you, the disparity in ratings sometimes is like a disconnect with the guy at Tib.

Cullen harper rated higher than JJ? travisty. Apparently hes also rated higher than John David Booty, who had a much better college career in a NFL system and got drafted.

I would think so, 76-78, just for the potential. If he won the job and did well the first couple of games, I would think he would get a little boost.

Wow they totally demolished the vikings. Some flaws I see
EJ Henderson is an 80. An injury does not stop you from being an elite player.
Lets take a look at some stats....
EJ Henderson
2006: 109 tackles 76 solos 2 picks 1 defensive td (45 yard int return)
2007: 118 tackles 94 solo
2008: in 3 games before injury: 27 tacles 23 solo

Now lets look at 88 overal julian peterson
2006: 89 tackles 71 solo 1 int
2007: 74 tacles 63 solo 2int
2008: 86 tackles 65 solo

Or 95 rated Lance Briggs
2006: 130 tackles 109 solo 2 int (good year)
2007: 102 tackles 83 solo
2008: 110 tackles 90 solo 3 int

I know EJ isn't a big name Superstar but he surely deserves some love. I wouldnt even complain as much about an 85 but an 80? He is the cornerstone of our D. Sure he got injured but by that standard should Brady be a 90?

you really cant compare those players because EJ Henderson plays middle Linebacker while the other 2 play weak side i believe, which most of the time those linebackers are covering TEs while EJ's job is too tackle. Also i believe its harder playing middle linebacker and if you switched Peterson or Briggs to middle im sure there ratings lower

The Saints live and die with Drew Brees and the passing game...Lucky for them, Brees is the most accurate QB in Madden NFL 10 with his 98 short accuracy, 96 mid accuracy, and 90 deep ball accuracy...The receiving unit is led by WR's Marques Colston (87 OVR) and Lance Moore (81 OVR), and Tight End Jeremy Shockey (85 OVR)...The running game is a true Running Back By Committee situation with Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas splitting the carries...Bush is the fast, elusive back who is the ultimate weapon out of the backfield (but is injury prone)...P. Thomas is the short yardage grinder in this Saints offense...Jahri Evans the leader of this offensive line, look for him to be around for many years in franchise mode, you can really build a line around this guy...Despite making big time moves in the off-season adding Jabari Greer and Malcolm Jenkins to the Defensive Back unit, New Orleans is still one of the worst secondaries in the NFL...The Saints have a Top 10 unit at QB...However, they rank 27th in the league at Linebackers and have the 29th ranked Special Teams unit.

Damn henderson is 68 and our Oline is struggling. Our D is struggling which is realistic but DAMN what happened?

Brees looks pretty good though! Thought his arm was a little stronger than 87?

He's got a good arm but I can recall a few times where henderson would burn the D or Lance Moore would slip behind the defender and Brees would throw it, but the WRs would either have to slow up or almost stop because it wouldnt quite get there.

They got Brees right. He never touted a really strong arm. Its his accuracy that is his strength

The Bucs are a team that is much more dangerous on offense than defense, something that you have not been able to say for a decade in Tampa Bay...With the additions of laser-armed/fleet footed (96 THP/74 SPD) Josh Freeman, TE Kellen Winslow will team up with 86 OVR WR Antonio Bryant to form a deadly duo in the passing game, and also former Giants RB Derrick Ward now leading the rushing game, the Bucs offense is definitely a sleeping giant in Madden 10...The Bucs offensive line is one of the best young OL's in football (ranking 12th in NFL)...The downside with the Bucs in Madden NFL 10 is the defense....they sport the 28th ranked DL in the league, as well as the 25th at Saftey...Ronde Barber (88 OVR) is starting to hit the downside of his career despite his Pro Bowl appearance in 2008, and his SPD is starting to show it (79 SPD with new stretched out ratings)...Barrett Ruud (87 OVR) is the player to build around in franchise mode, he is a tackling machine.

After seeing 6 teams, I sure hope they have turned down the speed of the game like they said................WRs in '09 that were running 92, 93, now mostly upper 70s to low 80s. Quick look says the same for DBs, so maybe they will match up. Not in all cases.

But the really "fast" WRs, and RBs look to be holding their own.......Henderson, Hester, Harvin, Johnson, Berrian, Peterson, Bush. With the speed of the DBs mostly in the 80s, is a fast ACC gonna be enough or is a Hester or Garvin just gonna flat run all over you? Not sure I'll be running Jim Bates' new "d" in a case like that.

I would have liked for them to have released the PRS ratings for the DBs at least.
EDIT: Looks like the early post at ESPN is just a "capsule" of what EA releases later in the day. The team posts at EA looks complete.


Gonna be an "interesting" game this year.
