i got to get my ratings up. The biggest issue is the power rating. Your just not strong enough to reach the GIR on a par 4......Comment
-
most par 4's your whackin it with your 3W and hoping for a good bounce and roll.Comment

For those having trouble with putting:
Practice makes perfect. When the lines are red, you're going uphill, and will need more power. When they're blue, you're going downhill, and will need less power. Of course, the little dots moving left to right (or right to left) tell you how the green is moving from side-to-side, and how fast.
Really, it just takes several rounds to be able to jump on a green, and have a general idea of where that ball is headed. I would suggest just using your judgment to line up a putt, then press LB (on the 360), and see how far you're off. Do this for a few rounds, and get a good feel of the greens.
EDIT: Wanted to throw this in too...just in case some guys didn't know (although I can't image how you wouldn't). When you're on the green, moving the d-pad up/down/left/right will change the power and path of your ball. Once you think you have it lined up correctly, then use the LB feature to see how close you are, then make further adjustments.Last edited by St. Francisco; 06-13-2009, 10:47 PM.Comment

A little CAP update:
I haven't messed with any challenges or anything...just doing straight tourneys. I've always been fairly good at this game, so it only took me two tournaments to put my skills in the 9.5-10.0 range.
In all of the tournaments I've played, I sim o1-3 rounds...I find that this keeps things realistic. If I play all four rounds, I'll win every damn tournament hands down. But if I let the CPU take over until the final round, then I usually have a really good battle.
Just completed the Twin Cities Tournament (my 4th tourney), played the first and last day, simming the 2nd and 3rd. Shot a 66-68-71-63 to win the tournament by one stroke with a -20 over Geoff Ogilvy and Pat Perez (-19). I birdied the final hole to break the -19 stalemate. ;) I've won two of the four tourneys I've played in.
I'm on top of the FedExCup Leaderboard with 1,153 points. Tiger is right on my heels with 1,080.
My average skill is a 9.3 right now.
9.5 power (+1.0 equipment boost)
9.3 accuracy (+1.0 equipment boost)
7.4 short game (+0.5 equipment boost) I just lost -1.2 on my short game after this tourney...that pisses me off.
11.1 putting (+1.5 equipment boost)
Up next is the WGC-CA Championship with the delicious purse of 1.25 million. Gotta win this one so I can pick up some shit in the pro shop.Comment

I changed the sweet spot on my driver today to 20% (you need an advanced driver to do this).
My ratings plunged.
That said, I think the sweet spot change has made driving a real challenge and the game seem more like real golf.
At 15-20% sweetspot on your driver, the days of 80% fairways hit are over.My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

I thought I was good at this game and everyone else was struggling. I played with OOBL yesterday and shot a -2 at Sawgrass. Then I looked at my settings and seen that Tour Pro was turned off. If you want a really good challenge turn it on and play. No upgrades, no help. Just you, your club, the ball, the hole no clues. You need to know how to pay golf. I like it. I can see myself not putting this game down for awhile. Perhaps my summer escape?25-02, 23:16 Yawkey Way celtics fucking suckComment

i dont get this game sometimes. I shoot my best round ever. A -3 on Round 2 at Torrey Pines and all of my rating dropped. What especially bothers me about this is that i was hitting drives over 300 yards and my power decreases when my avg distance went up.....oh well, not complaining just kinda confused by this
I thought i made the cut at -1, but -1 was the cut line so i didnt make it.....the bastards!
does anyone know what these gamernet points do? the ones u earn when u win the challenges throughout the round?Last edited by Maynard; 06-14-2009, 11:24 PM.Comment
