I play sim to start the game, then follow suit with the other guy, if he wants to play sim, I play sim, if he wants to play freestyle, I will RC him every chance I get.
But at the same time, don't go attacking the other play style. You hardly ever see a freestyler attacking the sim playstyle per say, generally just someone who calls themselves sim.
the EASFL commish lives for that, he pops up about every 6 months to bash sim play in general. It's pretty funny
