unless there is a way to make our own private tourneys, then i have little interest. Playing online is pretty pointless to me. Its simultaneous so you have these tracers all over the screen. and i wouldnt want to sit thru someone elses turn anyways.

Then after 10 holes u run the risk of a disconnect. Plus you have to matchup with players who need the same round in as you. I mean, it is what it is so not much you can do. its more of a hassle then enjoyable to play in these. EA has no create a tourney, so we cant just set it up and go play on our own.

Play the pros is a better option for competing against other realistic scores. and i am loving the game so its not that i dont want to play this game

I have no issue getting match up with people, as me and KG have just played with each other the last few tourny's. But as I said in the last thread, something needs to be done to make it a more realistic league. I'm not taking a shot at Zalf because he is good and should win if he is. But in the same case, a -26 score at the Master's of all tournaments should not be happening. Because as I pointed out before, we have guys who shoot say an 79 (+9) and they are basically out of the tournament right then and there.

I think if this wants to be good competition, you got to cap people's players. Just like people do with sliders, you got to do it with the game. I know in golf guys do hit different lengths, and are better at certain things, so maybe you can offer some flex in that area. Maybe say everyone can have 25 points to go through all the areas, so you could have
      Power - 8
      Accuracy - 7
      Putting - 6
      Short Game - 4

And just have a cap of say 9 for the most you can up to. Just throwing out ideas here. I am just thinking that we have been playing for like 2 weeks, and already we have scores in the -20+ range, and changing the wind and green speeds isn't helping that much. So the next thing would have to be the players.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

      "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

        a suggestion...

interest is low and many guys that joined up have left.

one event that might gather interest is a Ryder Cup or Match Play style tournament. it's a completely different tournament dynamic, announce it, advertise it and see what interest you can get from there. i think it might get some attention.

then try and build on that into something else.

I'm hoping we can find a way to keep some kind of competitive golf going....

Or maybe even take away from traditional golf...

Team scores could be the regular thing? Pairs of two or three or four. People play with opposing team members to keep things honest ;) and then assholes like Zalf can't run away with a win before anyone else tees off the first round. lol

Might be something worth toying with, I know it's not the way golf is, but hey, this is video games!

              edit*

say we did teams of two.

now everyone in the league has someone they can play with the easiest, so they can play every round together (convenience FTW), however they'd simply be on opposite teams (cheating free!)

              no?

I did enjoy that tournament the most, I felt I could have broke E for sure but could not. I definitely hate the tournaments where you have to practically play 'perfect' to be in contention, that's not fun at all.

Yeah that tourny was fun to play, and every hole was intense because it was so close.

Team thing does seem like it could work. If you get enough people you could do more then two teams, and then it makes picking the pairings really mean something. Do a sort of draft thing where you have 2-3-4 captains, pick their teams, and go from there.

For me, the issue was/is the speed of the tourneys. It seems that the only game I was playing in my free time was TW10. I really enjoy playing in this league, but if there were a little more time to get rounds in, I think more would be around to play and finish.

I understand the desire to get deep into the league prior to other games (NCAA and Madden) being released. If this league were set up for the long haul in terms of having a round every few days, it wouldn't be a hastle to get a round in, or having an outstanding couple rounds prevent players from even trying to complete a tournament.

I agree that changing up game types (match, team, stableford) could add to the excitement of the league as a whole. The only problem I see with this is getting people together at the same time.

In any event, I would love for this league to be something that continues for a long time to come. So long as a core group of people are willing to knock out tourneys, others will play here and there to add to the fun.

im def in for some more golf, but having to play with certain people will def make things more difficult, i do like having to post your round on gamernet, but that still opens it up for people to play more than one round before posting it, but i think at this point, it might just be a risk we have to take

This is how I feel too. Until we can set up private "one-try" tourneys, it just doesn't work.

We should all pick a day to play a one-day one-try tour pro tourney ... everyone's got a friend on Live or ps3 from these boards.
                              We report the scores.
                              How difficult is that?

No scheduling or partners needed. Play your round, report it, friends verify it.

Hell, we could do four straight one-day, one-try tourneys this way for a four-round tourney.

Hell cbgolfer and Maynard are both on my friends list. I'd know they played and could verify.
