i am changing my score of thsi game from a 9 to an 8. The reason is for this is a lame ass MP modes. They are worthless and should not even be in the game or are in need ofsome serious patch work.
lag isnt a problem, hit detection is a huge problem.
finding matches isnt a problem for us cause we have enough people to get a room going. But i know its a major issue for people flying solo.
2 maps is a joke.
4 - 4 man squads would be fine except 12 of the 16 players are bots. the idea being that you control a 4 man squad and issue orders. Only problem is that is totally flawed online. The cpu players wont listen to you. You order them to a spot and they wont go, you order surpressing fire and they wont do it. You ask them to assult an area, no fucking way.
They simply dont do anything youo tell them. Now if they at least went out into battle and did something, that would be a plus, but they dont. They just stand in an area doing nothing. at one point we decided to push the other teams area and managed to get to their spawn point and i saw about 10 cpu enemies just running around their spawn area doing nothing except run around.
another issue is that some cpu players wont die. its some glitch where they just wont die, not matter how many times they get shot. Then hit detection is another problem. You will shoot at players and bullets just dont hit them. Sad
the MP could be good if they just allowed more humans or took away the cpu playersLast edited by Maynard; 10-12-2009, 07:57 AM.Comment

Luckily this is one of the best single player FPS I've ever played. The way the CPU actively attacks you with flanking moves is awesome. You can't just find cover and get into a fight because you're always out-numbered and they'll just go around you and then surround you.
Is anybody down for some coop tonight? Schedule it for, say, 9 p.m. (Eastern)?Comment

The Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising servers are currently experiencing excess demand, as everyone tries to connect to the game following the worldwide launch. We are working with the company that runs these servers in an attempt to increase this bandwidth, however we would expect demand to reduce following the peak that we expect this weekend, and so you should be able to connect...
more consistently after this time.
Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.
In the meantime, if you are using a router to connect to the game (or any other type of hardware firewall), then you should verify that the following ports are open to allow unhindered access to the servers...
TCP/UDP: 9103
Other than that, nothing new except that they should have a patch soon - one mod said the first will be in under two weeks from launch, that they wanted a second patch to come out in about a month...Comment

after playing for about a week i figured i would post some after hype thoughts.
the game is solid, but not worth buying. The SP isnt very long. I am about half way thru and will probably be done in 4 more hrs. I think its about 10 hrs long. It could have replay value or me, but with all the AI issues i am now noticing, i doubt it.
The MP mode is about as worthless as anything and should have been left out for more focus on the gameplay. Coop is nice but its the same as SP Campaign so its only nice cause you play with friends.
The also have these single missions that you unlock by entering codes. These missions are all the same and equally dull and easy. Basiclly you enter a area, take out 3 or 4 Four man enemy squads and thats it. Pretty weak actually and the only motive for me doing all of them is to see if they had an achievement which they dont.
So that leaves the campaign mode. The missions are all shaping up to be kind of the same. You basically run to one area, take out troops, blow something up and move to the next area...rinse repeat. There are anywhere from 3-5 objectives like this in each of the 11 missions. And thru 5, they have all been like this. They do add in some rescue and defend types aspects. But it all basically just shooting various sqauds of enemies as they come in.
Its not bad that its like this, but the whole strategic aspect of this game is kind of pointless cause its kind of a pain in the ass to try to execute strategic moves. And the reward isnt that you pulled off this great maneuver, it more a reward because the AI actually did what you told them .
This is the biggest issue. They made this to be a real life tactical shooter, but the tactics dont work right and are limited. There isnt one specific thing that makes this an issue, its just a bunch of little things that take away from the experience. So you end up doing tactics that are pretty straight forward. And they usually work with the hassle. At first your thinking cool because you can make your guys do this and that, only to find out thru playing that alot of it is flawed.
i will still finish the SP mode and then trade it in.....Comment

I'm not a big FPS guy, and I"m not very good, so it's taking me a lot longer than Maynard. With that said, it's definately repetitive.
Right now most of my fun is coming in COOP. When you can get a good group of guys it's really good...unfortunately...then it's pretty easy.
The offline is disapointing. You're AI teammates don't listen and with command of only 3 people (plus yourself) your tactics are pretty limited from that standpoint.
I really enjoy how one AI machine gun can literally pin you down if you put yoruself in a bad position. I enjoy how the AI constantly works to outflank you once they pin you down. Unfortunately, since you're AI guys don't respond, it leaves something to be desired.Comment
