Game: NCAA Football 10
ESRB: Rating: E
Release: Date: 2009
Developer: EA Tiburon, EA Canada
Genre: College Football Sim
Intro-It's summer time, the time where everyone craves football, and EA(only EA) gives it to us two times, this time in the form of NCAA Football 10.
The Good-Last year NCAA Football 09 made a huge splash with its deep online dynasty mode, this year both the online and offline dynasty modes are back, along with a plethora of other modes and features. NCAA Football 10 is filled to the brim with features, the biggest is Team Builder, where you create your own team via PC and import it into the game. The creation system is very deep as you can control nearly every aspect of the creation process, from uniforms, to logos, to the field itself.
One new mode added to this game is Season Showdown. In this mode you choose your favorite team, and that is your team for the year. As you play against other people with your team of choice you will rack up points for your in school, in the end when only there are only two schools remaining, those two will battle it out to see who is the champ of NCAA Football 10. Its a great mode to add as surely players will be trying their best to keep their team on the up and up.
The Bad-The gameplay for this game is not bad at the least, but its nothing that previous players haven't experienced. It seems like this year EA was took focused on new features and modes to really refine the gameplay(who would have guessed). Its still fun and enjoyable, but its nothing new that we have not seen before.
Road to Glory replaced Campus Legend mode, but the question is, whats different? Erin Andrew and a shiny new studio showing off your highlights, that's it. Its still the same mode just like the past few years it has been on the game, Erin Andrew is nice to look at but other than that its the same as Campus Legend.
Overall-After one having a little over a day to play this game there is not much to say about it. The core modes return and are still as fun as ever. Season Showdown and Team Builder are great editions to an otherwise solid game. There is nothing horrible about the game, just don't expect it to blow your mind. 8.0Last edited by Maestro; 07-30-2009, 02:56 AM.Comment

Game: Halo 3
ESRB: Rating: M
Release: Date: 2007
Developer: Bungie
Genre: First Person Shooter
Intro-The franchise that defined both the Xbox and online console shooters arrived on the 360 in fall of 2007, there were high expectations for this game after the success of Halo 2, but did it live up to the expectations?
The Good-Easily the best part of this game is the online multi-player. As soon as you find a game you will instantly be dropped into an addictive vortex that many people find hard to get out of. There are a plethora of modes to choose from, whether it be the stranded capture the flag mode or a huge team death match, Halo 3 knows how to put a twist on things. All of the weapons return from Halo 2 and a few new ones are added, including a new flame grenade. The different vehicles lets you choose how you get around the environment, you can either fly high in a Banshee or cruise across the terrain in a Mongoose. Or take your game into a private match and customize the rules and map to your likings.
Online Co-op also provides hours of fun for you and your friends. Going through the campaign can be fun by yourself, but with playing with your friends adds a whole new dimension to it. The screaming and yelling between the group makes you feel as if your are really in a squad fighting the Covenant. The scoring options and skulls help add a competitive twist to the game.
The Bad-An easy weak point to spot is the campaign. Although it is fun playing with friends, playing by yourself will not offer that much enjoyment. The story is pretty shallow with no huge plot twists or new characters that help bring you into the game.
Another weak point of this game is that you rarely feel that its a next gen type of game. While playing the game the graphics never deliver any "AWE" moments. The shooting mechanics and movements feel like they are recycled from the previous game.
Overall-If you jump right into the multi-player on this game you will have a fun time with your friends. All of the customization options and modes make the multi-player portion of the game something to be remembered. Online co-op also delivers with options to make it fun but competitive. The campaign however falls short on its own, compared to the last games this campaign was nothing special. Also you dont get a next gen feel from this game.9.0Last edited by Maestro; 07-30-2009, 02:57 AM.Comment

I don't have any problems with older reviews. I was thinking of doing some of these myself with classic games like Street Fighter 2 and Golden Axe, along with newer games and some games that are 2-3 years old. No problem in having variety. Yes, there are hundreds of Halo 3 reviews, but what's it hurting when he posts one here?
There's a bunch of retards trolling this site who spend their time doing nothing to advance themselves, at least he's writing and putting forth his opinions with creativity. It's a lot better than reading the usual "I hate this fucking game it blows!!!ZOMG!!!11".Comment

Game: Call of Duty 4
ESRB: Rating: M
Release: Date: 2007
Developer: Infinity Ward
Genre: First Person Shooter
Intro-Many fans of the Call Of Duty series were skeptical when Infinity Ward stated that their newest shooter would be going to "modern times", the franchise was known for its WWII setting, with new weapons and a new setting did Infinity Ward make a new game.
The Good-As soon as you boot the game up you will notice a huge graphical improvement, and how the new setting really allowed IW to show what their graphics engine can really do. There are beautiful scenes throughout the game, from crawling though the grass in ghillie suits, or watching the result of a nuclear explosion this game is pure beauty.
Easily the best part of this game is the online multiplayer. The basic modes are there with nothing special really added to them aside from the "hardcore" versions of the game modes, but nothing special needed to be added in this one. The new "create-a-class" system really was an upgrade over the usual set classes. Now you play the game how you want and you set your classes to fit the way you play. Throw Extreme Conditioning and Bandelier on your MP5 for a beast run and gun class. Or switch it up and put a silencer on along with UAV Jammer and Dead Silence so you can be unseen and unheard. Adding different attachments and skins onto your guns adds to the customization thats available. Once you are in a game your will see how fast paced and addictive the game is which led to it being the most played Xbox360 game. You customize matches the way you want in private matches, this can lead to some interesting games.
Despite what some may say i found the campaign length perfect. Considering the achievements(beating the game on veteran) there wasn't a need to extend it. It introduced you to the first true story line in the Call of Duty series and there are some characters that you might actually feel for. While not as fun as the multiplayer the campaign offers a great experience and unlike Halo delivers the "AWE" moments.
The Bad-Nothing too bad to say about this game. While the storyline is good its not great, it could have given you a deeper perspective on the characters that you play as. One big disappointment is the lack of DLC. IW only released one map pack for the game which is not really enough for a game that is still being played almost two years after the release. Also "Little Jimmy" can get very annoying with his high pitched voice online.
Overall-I admit when i first head about this game i thought "No way it beats Halo", but i was very wrong. Call of Duty 4 is possibly the best FPS ever for any console. The multiplayer is very addictive and something that everyone(16+) should experience. Graphically it is one of the best looking games ever. While good the campaign could have been better. The lack of DLC was one of the very few strikes against one of the top games ever.9.8Last edited by Maestro; 11-11-2009, 12:38 AM.Comment

I thought CoD4's campaign was perfect. It was short, but sweet. I think it had the perfect time length as far as not dragging it on and keeping you wanting more. One of the few FPS single player modes I actually completed.
As far as my reviews, I'm going to wait until I get my hands on a Sega Genesis. Playing those games on XBLA = not really playing those games.Comment

The consoles themselves go for around 25-30, and games are about 5 a piece so that's a crazy good deal. I may end up starting my reviews sooner than I thought.Comment

Game: Mass Effect
ESRB: Rating: M
Release: Date: 2007
Developer: Bioware
Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios
Intro-We were four years removed from Bioware's last Xbox rpg Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic before they retunred in 2007 with Mass Effect, another space based RPG, this time with its own storyline.
The Good-When the game first starts off you will notice the instantaneous beauty of the game. Bioware did a great job graphically with this game, every planet, station, and galaxy has its own feel to it. There are very few graphical glitches in the game as it plays smoothly at 60fps. In combat the graphics change a bit but not enough to keep you from loving every minute of the game. This is easily one of the best looking games ever to hit any console.
The next thing that you will notice is your freedom to choose. You start by picking what your player looks like, his/her background, and his/her military profile. This really gets you involved in the game from the start so you can choose who your character really is. Also you have the freedom to choose what you do, and what you say. Are you going to be the no non sense ruthless leader? Or the type that like to talk things out first you know "diplomacy", its entirely up to you.
The storyline is great, it takes to to different galaxies and if you ever need to find something out there is an encyclopedia at your disposal. There are hundreds of different characters from different species and different planets. With new faces everywhere you are sure to meet someone if interest. The game world is huge, and there are many different side missions that you can choose to tackle. Although you don't have to do any side missions, there is an interesting story behind all of them, and most are not what they seem to be from the get go. You will gradually build relationships as you go along both romantic and business related.
If you take the RPG element aside Mass Effect would have made a good third person shooter. There are different classes to choose from each with its own abilities and powers, they all also have restrictions on what they can and cannot use. Whether you're using magic or combat, or even both the combat is smooth and fun. You can pause the game in the middle of the action to choose different powers or guns to use. Also you can command the two other members of your squad to play it safe in a defensive position or attack, and a few other options. The leveling system is easy to work with and you unlock new powers and abilities as you lever up certain categories.
The Bad-Driving around in your rover can get boring and repetitive at times. There is combat involved with it but its nothing too fun. The rover does not handle to well and takes a little getting used to.
Overall-I was ecstatic to get this game two years ago and i still play it. The different missions, classes, and outcomes help to open up multiple playthroughs. The combat is fun without the RPG element this game would have made a pretty good third person shooter. The whole game is beautiful and will leave you glancing at certain scenes. Customization helps you make your character the way you want, and the game throws in the freedom to choose how you want to play. Besides boring trips on the rover this is one of the best RPG's on the 360.9.0Last edited by Maestro; 11-12-2009, 01:29 AM.Comment
