You college fans would know this better than I would...

I decided to do a dynasty with Tennessee.
I wanted to use a decent, but not top 25, team.

I started out 2-0 (42-7 over Western Kentucky, then 34-16 over UCLA).

I was pumped for my week 3 game with Florida at The Swamp. Somehow, I pulled out a 21-16 win (played incredibly conservative on offence, chewed the clock, etc...).

Florida was the #1 team before the game, Tennessee wasn't in the top 25.

After a win like this, I expected better than #21 in the polls.

In real college football, shouldn't an established program like Tennessee rank better than #21 after a 3-0 start, including a win over #1 Florida?

Frankly, I feel my team should be ranked in the top ten after wins over Florida and UCLA. Obviously, the Western Kentucky win is expected.

I play on AA with Trinity's sliders (from OS) slightly tweaked.

Considering where Tennessee likely started the season in the polls (Well, outside the polls but you get the point), seems pretty realistic.

If you were outside the top 25 before the UCLA game then your right where you should be after beating Florida. A question though, what was UCLA ranked?

Pretty much depends on what the teams in front of you did also.

UCLA was not in the top 25.
Not sure where they were ranked.

They took a 10-0 lead in my game after an INT TD, but I never felt I was gonna lose to UCLA. Tennessee's ground game was damned good in that game.

In the Florida game, I was nervous throughout. The adaptive AI really kicked in quickly on D for Florida. They really shut down my run game. Only a deep pass to #4 WR for Tennessee kept Florida from winning. The pass set up a TD that gave me a 21-10 lead.

I was a tad disappointed in Tebow's lack of run stats, but I was consistently calling QB contains with D hot routing, blitzes and spies. So, maybe, my playcalling helped contain him.

I like that he was throwing really deep passes in the second half.

There's no doubt that 90% of the guys replying to this thread know more about college football than I do. I only get interested in college football A) when NCAA is released; B) at NFL draft time.

That sounds about right. They start off ranked in the late 40s in the game IIRC.

I think 6 spots higher would even work out.

my first thought was you beat the #1 team in the swamp and should be 16-17. But you were not in the top 25 at all and made your first jump in. I dont think you would jump all the way up to 16 with 1 win. What if you were ranked 35 in the nation? jumping up 10-15 spots to 21 isnt unrealistic at all

after a couple more wins you will shoot up the polls, way more catalysts then a 5 point win

I think you should be around 18-19. Let's say Tennessee beats #1 Florida this upcoming year. It is going to be viewed as a big time upset and Tennessee will not get as much deserving credit because the polls think Tennessee will just go on to drop a few games down the road in the regular season.

Therefore, they don't over-rank them because it is viewed as a one time deal since they haven't proven their worth by only beating UCLA and Western Kentucky.

21 is where you should be considering where you were probably ranked prior to that game. If there were more upsets that week, you probably would have ended up higher.
