    inFamous movie in development

Last month, Naughty Dog's Uncharted took its first steps toward the big screen, with Sony's Columbia Pictures hiring a writer to script Nathan Drake's feature film debut. It won't be the only PlayStation 3-exclusive game embarking on the treacherous and pitfall-filled path to the local megaplex, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The film industry trade today reports Sony Pictures is negotiating with screenwriter Sheldon Turner to bring Infamous to the big screen. Released in May to critical acclaim, the Sucker Punch open-world action game tells the story of bike messenger Cole McGrath, who, after a massive explosion, wakes up with electricity-based superpowers. In the game, players either make McGrath a savior or a scourge as he attempts to break a government-imposed quarantine of his city.

Turner's previously released work is limited (he wrote screenplays for the 2005 remake The Longest Yard and the 2006 prequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning), but the writer has been tied to more than a dozen other films in various stages of development. Among his other projects are X-Men Origins: Magneto and the Enron-scandal dramatization Conspiracy of Fools.

"What excited me most about the game was it was the first of which I've come across that had a big idea and a character arc," Turner told the Hollywood Reporter. "It is, I believe, the future of gaming. The game, while big and fun, is at its core a love ballad to the underachiever, which is what our hero, Cole McGrath, is."

Loved the game, but leave the game-movies transitions alone
