I don't know if this is a problem or the Bears have really good special teams or I'm just really good but I have taken a kick back for a TD with Hester about 4 or 5 times in about 6 games played.

No running wild with the Wildcat...
Messin around with the game a lil bit and noticed that the Browns have a flash package ran by Cribbs. One formation was all running plays (only 3 plays) and the other has a PA pass. Well...after the fake...you can't sprint with the QB with the passing icons up like you can on any other play.
Other things I've noticed...lots of new animations that'll make you say...damn, can't believe that hasn't been in the game all along.
The default game speed is a lil slower than what you are use to but after awhile, you don't even notice it. The default quarter length is 7min...it really feels like a 5 minute quarter though.
I hate the Steelers with a passion but Heinz field looks nice as hell.
Presentation is nice.
Menu music sucks...makes you wanna go play Guitar Hero and I have never even played it before! LOL
Play calling screen only has 3 plays to choose from and you scroll through them up and down, not left to right.
Was able to break a 29 yard run with Lewis vs. the Steelers. He has 83 speed but the hole developed nicely.
Will post some other stuff later...Comment

OK, is it just me or does this game feel different from the demo? It's much easier to pass and much harder to run. Still messing around with the sliders trying to find the right touch.
One thing that's annoying as hell - I don't have a problem with the pass rush itself. It's fine. I'm consistently beating my man with Ware as I should,, but it seems the QB always gets the ball off just as I'm about to lace him. I've only gotten one user sack thus far.
Bears repeating, but I love this goalline fade with Roy Williams. It's money so far.
The better teams really put up a fight. I annihalted the Bucs in Week 1, and then had a tough game against the Giants the next week.
Cowboys Stadium is SWEET.

Think it's just you. Have a couple nice returns but haven't quite broken one yet.

Can someone post up factual info RE: the reality of the QB simulation EA so herald? In the demo, tons of time a defensive player would have the QB in tow but the QB's arm would still be free but you could not get the ball off as professed by the devs.
Can you, in fact, get rid of the ball if the QB's arm is free to do so, or is this a myth?
And if you can accomplish the EA scenario, post a vid of you being able to actually make it happen.
EDIT: Also, it would be good if you guys would signify AP or AM when responding with your impressions....like Houtz did.Last edited by Poundtherock; 08-08-2009, 08:50 PM.

See my earlier complaint about pass rushers never "sealing the deal" on sacks, though. It's gotten quite annoying.

Houtz, or whoever, do you have any options with the controller config?

I agree with that Ray.....I'm saying that tons of times I have seen that the QB should be able to get rid of the ball and tons of times it is a sack just like past games. And yes it would most likely be intentional grounding, but he still should be able to get rid of the ball if standing and his throwing arm is free.
And oh, tell me about the pass rush, lol, or lack thereof.
In that case, I would say I haven't seen it so far. Have not been able to get off a pass when my QB is in someone's clutches.
As far as the pass rush itself, like I said, the actual pass rush itself is fine. Using the stick to get around blocks is fun, and with a guy like DeMarcus Ware, I win that battle nearly every time.
Trouble is that it seems every time I have a clean shot at the QB, just as I'm about to nail him, he gets a pass off, however shitty it may be. I've gotten a few INTs this way, but so few sacks. Messing with the sliders when I get back home.

It's true, get Hester and Forte back there, it's no contest. You can even create your own option with one of the plays.Comment

Couple things I noticed right away:
1) Procedural awarness still doesn't exist. I played against Davon, called a curl/flat play. Keith Bullock vs my slot WR (Collier, I was the Colts). I had man coverage, my slot had outside leverage and the LB turned and chased him.
I throw the pass, little tough under it, Bullock makes a leaping INT on a ball he never saw and returned it for a pick. Go figure.
Couple other situations where LB's made plays on seam routes they never saw.
It's not quite as bad as before, but it isn't gone.
2) Coverage over the middle is still to weak. There are various factors, but regardless of the reasons, the drag pattern is still money.
3) Cameras blow. The default camera still leads to INT's because you can't see the corners. The new "wide" camera is too far away. I don't know why they don't just have the camera pan backwards on pass plays like EVERY OTHER FOOTBALL GAME (Last gen, 2k ect..) but I digress.
4) Draw plays work. I've had a few nice ones already.Comment
