Best Buy price matching Used games.

Perhaps gamestop will lower used game prices in an attempt to get Best Buy to quit doing it.

Their used prices suck anyways. They are usually like 3 dollars less than retail.

I saw this at CAG. It's cool and all but apparently it's only in a few select stores and I'm sure there are plenty of catches. Sure they can match it when it's $5 less but sometimes it's a lot more than that.

This is cool but I wonder how many will actually take advantage of it. You have to bring a printed ad (or xerox copy of adv. price at competitor) and I rarely see Gamestop having printed ads. BB used to call the store to verify price and inventory but no longer; they just call to verify inventory. They either got lazier or just wanted to make it harder on consumers. Also I doubt anyone at GameStop will make a copy of their used game price, knowing you are going to BB to have it matched. BB must be allowing people to bring in printed emails that usually feature used game specials of the week.

Regardless of what you think of GameStop or BestBuy, this won't hurt GameStop because...
          1. BestBuy won't price match GameStop's discount card, too.
          2. BestBuy won't price match GameStop's coupons.
          3. BestBuy won't price match GameStop's promos (buy2get1, etc.).
          4. Most BestBuys don't take trade ins.
          5. For the $2 to $5 difference, GameStop still more locations (sometimes it's cheaper than driving).
          6. BestBuy's video game selection in-store is still pretty small by comparison.
          ...and the real big one...
          7. BestBuy still won't take back the games if you don't like them (which GameStop does for used games).
Granted, some people will still rush to BestBuy, but every time someone used to buying used games with a return policy buys a piece of crap game they can't return at BestBuy, they'll abandon BestBuy to return to GameStop.

(I didn't talk about GameCrazy because I've never been to one and I'm unfamiliar with their prices, policies, etc.)

Last thought... I know a lot of people on here hate GameStop and a lot of people on here hate BestBuy (in either case, it's almost always due to an idoit or two at a local store for one chain or the other), but how much does that affect your decision to buy when policies are better where the idiots are?
          This is really true

              ^^^this.

And all this essentially does is knock down the prices of old games at Best Buy. The 4-5 dollar difference on new games won't matter much, but now Best Buy won't have Madden 06 listed for $59.99. I always found that stupid that Best Buy and Wal-Mart list old ass games at their new prices.
