Too hard to take anything from this review. Last year got a 8.8 and they also said this

"Madden NFL 10 doesn’t redefine the series or innovate in any monumental way, but that doesn’t stop it from being a truly great football game."

There are issues with some of the new aspects that have worked their way into Madden (and things that have been taken out), but there's no denying that this is the best pure football experience in videogame history.

As a guy who attended the community event and got to play this bad boy, I think 8.9 is actually the perfect score.
And I despise IGN reviews (though I always read them for info).

Madden 10, IMO, is that bridge year between mediocrity and near greatness. Ian Cummings and his posse have the right idea, but they have to do a lot to correct the crap that was Madden 06-09 next-gen.
To do that in one year is impossible.
Frankly, I wish they had the resources for a team to create a completely new game from scratch, but that's simply not possible in this economy.

My gut tells me Madden 11 will be a 9.5 game if Frazier, Cummings and their lackeys are allowed to continue in this sim direction. Only thing stopping them is sales.

That's not the case. Videogame sales are down big-time, save for the Wii.

I should be getting the game today or tomorrow.

But my friend that played it already said it is horrible. extremly slow game play, graphics look like 1999. I will have to see for my self, but if this is true then this game will suck.
