that thread really is worth reading

          draft highlights tickled my nutsack

          First Year Draft-Detroit Lions
In red are the player ratings and post draft comments.

With the 4th overall pick I grabbed a LT out of Wake Forest who I had scouted for the full 6 weeks (6 weeks is the maximum). From that six weeks I had his injury rating, strength, run block, pass block, and speed rating. It says he has very high potential, but you can't scout that so I'm betting its a bit of a shot in the dark. 76 overall. Not great for the amount of money I'm giving him, but not a total bust. He has "B" potential, and all of the ratings seem to be pretty accurate to what I had them scouted at.

2nd round: This is a bit of a test. I want to line up a replacement for Grady Jackson at DT, and I've scouted a bunch but most went in the first round. The only other guy I've scouted is a projected 2nd rounder from Miami. 6'3 334 but what I've unlocked about him isn't so great. 79 strength and 61 AWR pop out at me. I'm gonna grab him anyways and see how accurate my scouting was. 58 overall. Bust. Glad I wrote down some of his scouted ratings, because thy are DEAD on. "C" potential.

3rd round: Gonna go on a whim here. Found this WR with excellent speed (4.25) but questionable leaping ability (33" vertical) and size (5'10 180). Hoping this will be a slot guy for me, since Derrick Williams didn't pan out. Another big bust. 49 overall with 97 speed. Risky move taking someone I hadn't scouted...and it did not pay off at all. "F" potential.

4th round: Found that I had in fact scouted another position. I have a G that might fit the bill here. I've unlocked the following from him: Strength (89), AWR (81), Rub blocking (79), Pass blocking (72). I'm thinking this guy could be a sleeper with that high AWR. Man was I right about this guy being a sleeper! 77 overall with "A" potential! All of his scouted ratings were also dead on.

5th round: DEF found a sleeper here. This is a guy who had the most potential in the pre-draft scouting screen, yet he's still here and projected to go in the 4th. Can't believe it. For the fun of it, I scouted him and have a bunch of info on him. Looks like a STUD and a perfect compliment to Johnson. Catch is an 85, Speed is an 88, Jumping is a 90, Injury is 95. Oh yeah, he's 6'5! Once again I'm right! Interesting how I could tell the sleepers as soon as I saw them. 80 overall with "A" potential. Will look great in a Lions uniform!

6th round: Right now it tells me my team needs are HB, DE, and QB. I'd like to see what QBs are available here, as Daunte won't be around as a backup forever...and even though Stanton had a nice bump in progression, he's still a 52 OVR. Taking this guy out of Marshall who is 6'2 236 and runs a 4.6. I like to have one of my QBs be a bit quicker. Not what I hoped for here. 53 overall with "C" potential.

7th: Still says I need a HB and a DE. Don't see any DEs that work for me, so I'm going to grab a fast HB and hopefully use him as a return specialist. This guy out of Baylor is 6'0 220 and runs a 4.29 with a 3.86 shuttle. 45 overall with "F" potential.

Overall, I'm pleased with this class. Goes to show you how important scouting is in Madden 10. Like I said, you get 6 weeks to scout a player until you have all the info you can get out of them. My scouting agency gave me 18 scouting reports at a time. Man, this was fun. I can't wait for the next draft!

His 2nd draft he ended up selecting solid players with 8 of his 9 picks.

His 3rd draft saw him net only one guy (4th round) that doesn't appear to be average or worse.

Then he was fucked cause he had top 5 picks in the first couple drafts and he made a splash in free agency too, so goin into year 4 he was going to have to trade out of the top 5 (if he landed there) cause he had no cap space for it. He noted how one of the top picks he signed (a T he took 4th overall) started at like 40 million over 5 years and he didn't end up signing him till it was like 56 million.

          Pretty cool stuff.

some more details that I'm reading about

                  - Through 3 drafts he's not been offered a trade by the CPU. Only though Trade Block has he been offered a deal, although the Trade Block is much improved.

                  - It doesn't appear you can be fired, probably ties in with not being able to change teams

                  - Don't tend to see many 90 + Free Agents

                  - The guy made a note about how he saw some decent rookies end up in Free Agency and didn't like it. Josh Looman commented stating how some players (say for an example a late round gem that signs a one year deal) may choose not to re-sign with a team (as opposed to the team not re-signing them), which is why you'd see young talent hit Free Agency.

                  - By year 4 starting to see some of the 2008/9 Draft Class's turning into elite stars (Beanie Wells with 1600 yards and 17 TD's, Michael Crabtree rated 95)

                  - The entire first round of the 2009 Draft Class had no busts at all. Every one of the 32 picks are rated high 80 or low 90 by year 4. Kinda sucks... although it's not a Madden 10 draft class.

                  - Injuries are improved......but no further comments.

                  - Looks like some top FA's can hit the market after all. Chris Johnson of the Titans hits the market at 95 OVR as does Shaun Phillips (93 OVR) and Cortland Finnegan (93 OVR)

                  - Year 4 Draft
1st round: I see an excellent OLB prospect here, but also a very solid CB. I'm pretty set at OLB, and one key stat really sticks out for me on the CB: 75 catch. With 92 speed and acc, I think this guy could really be a ballhawk. Going to go ahead and grab him here. RESULT: 72 overall with "B" potential. Not bad, but certainly not what I hoped for. Will have to hope he can develop into a solid #2 once Fabian regresses a bit more.

2nd round: The Lions trade their 2nd round draft pick to the New York Giants in exchange for their 2nd year DE rated at an 80 OVR. Who knows how high this kids' ceiling is. RESULT: Kid I traded for has "B" potential. I'll take it.

3rd round: Guy I'm in love with here. A HB with 95 speed, inj, acc, and 88 ball carrier vision. Don't really need a HB with Kevin Smith there now, but I can't pass up on a guy this good. Like I said, I'm going to draft for the best player available. If they happen to fit a need...great. This guy doesn't, but I'm hoping he will blossom into a stud by the time Smith starts to decline. RESULT: 66 overall with "C" potential. His AWR is at 15, lol. I think thats what is bringing him down. The rest of his numbers look great.

4th round: See a few guys I'm interested in equally here. First, a 6'3 250 pound DE who has good speed and strength. The other is a monster DT with exceptional strength and tackling ability. I said I'd go best available, but in this case its a tie. Winner goes to need...DE. RESULT: 69 overall with "A" potential. I think he'll blossom into a great pass rusher. At least I hope...

5th round: The monster DT is still around. At 6'3 347, he's not a prototypical 4-3 DT, but he looks to be quite talented. I'm going to go ahead here and we'll see how he works in the 4-3. If it doesn't pan out, I'm sure he could be decent trade bait. RESULT: Great pick here, another guy with great potential. 76 overall with "A" potential.

6th round: I am short on tackles, so I'll look to pick one up in the 6th or 7th round. I have a guy here who has 85 pass blocking and good size 6'6 310. I have no AWR rating on him, but as a Stanford graduate I'm hopeful he'll pick up the playbook relatively quickly. RESULT: Steal here in the 6th. 73 overall with "A" potential. I was right about the AWR most likely being high...it was a 75. Wondering if the fact that he was from Stanford could have any bearing on AWR. That would be pretty sweet.

7th round: Need another QB, but I see an interesting WR prospect with good speed and BC vision. His 70 catching makes me think twice, but I am re-assured by his name (same name as my old baseball coach...and this guy was awesome). Also, Matt Jones is my 4th WR currently, and he has been regressing quickly. I'll need a replacement. If anything I hope his speed and BC vision make for a good return specialist. RESULT: BUST. 54 with "D" potential. Should have grabbed the CB instead.

Pretty happy with the potential in this group. I didn't find any immediate starters here, but I did get some much needed depth and age. With time these guys SHOULD progress nicely.

A**ing out for the night. Long day of work tomorrow, but I'll try to squeeze another season in. Keep the questions coming. I'll be able to answer some while working.
Looks good but too many late steals with A potential for my liking.

That gets you completely up to date with that guy's thread if you want to pick it up at the end.

These draft classes should be awesome for 32 user Online Franchises.

Has anyone imported draft classes from NCAA yet?

I'm interested to see what the NCAA imported rookies look like in regards to overall.

Will everyone be good or does the conversion from NCAA to Madden suck.

If someone can check this out, it'd be appreciated and thanks will be given.

Now that's some STRONG work there, son!

Good stuff and that just makes me giddy seeing the overalls all over the place. Just like it should be.

Old school Madden imports had guys always ranked high.

Damn, I can't get this game to come out quick enough.

85 overall. Browns get the best rookie in the round. Now you know that madden is not realistic, unless selvie is a bust by year 2

And here I judged the game by shitty CPU game play during my franchise. I should have been simming all along, I would have gotten more realstic results, and probably had more fun.
