Lions Hold On To Beat Seahawks 24-17

Calvin Johnson Would Come Up With The Game Winning Touchdown In The Final 30 Seconds

            Box Score
            - 0 - 7 - 3 - 14 - 24
            - 0 - 7 - 7 - 3 - 17

Detroit, MI (AP) - Week 9 of Season 1 of the TGT would feature Coach krul's Detroit Lions (5-2) heading to beautiful Qwest Field on the west coast against Coach Bomberooski's Seattle Seahawks (3-4). First meeting between the two coaches this season. The Lions would win the toss and elect to kick the ball.

The Seahawks would start from their 31 as Matt Hasselbeck would move his team up into Lions territory before Detroit's defense would step up and stop them at their 40 on a 4th and inches. They would end up punting the ball and giving the Lions offense the football on their 20 after the touchback. About 3 plays later, Stafford would find himself on the Seahawks 43 yard line after nice passes to Bryant & Calvin Johnson. Stafford would then find himself in a 3rd and 9 from the 41 as he dropped back and throw it to HB Maurice Morris for the 12 yard pickup and the first down now on Seattle's 29. After getting well into Seattle's territory, Stafford would make a bad read as lob up a fade to the corner to Calvin that was supposed to go into the endzone, however Megatron got bumped up forcing the pick to give the Seahawks the ball back on their 11.

After forcing a 3 and out on the next drive, the Lions offense would get the ball back, again they would drive down the field. This time though, inside the redzone on a 3rd and 9, Stafford would roll out to his right bringing the defenders in before throwing a bullet to WR Dennis Northcutt for a touchdown and the first points of the game late in the 2nd quarter. 7-0 Lions. Next possession for the Seahawks, Hasselbeck would end up throwing an interception on 3rd and 4 around midfield to FS Daniel Bullocks who would give his offense the ball back around midfield with under 2 minutes remaining. Stafford would drive his team into Seattle territory before making another costly mistake throwing a pick to Jennings who would run it down the field before being stopped at the Lions 20 by the last possible defender, Maurice Morris. With a great opportunity to score before the half now, Hasselbeck would dump a screen off to HB Julius Jones on the 2nd play of the drive as he made some moves and found himself in the endzone to tie the game all up at the half. 7-7.

Starting from their 30 now, the Lions offense would take the field to start the second half as Stafford would look to bounce back after his shaky first half. He would end up leading his team down to the 29 yard line before having to kick a 44 yard field goal. 10-7 Detroit. Meanwhile, Seattle's offense would look like it would continue to struggle before Hasselbeck found Nate Burleson on a screen on 3rd and 9 that would end up going 79 yards for a touchdown! 14-10 Seahawks.

Apparently Coach krul talked to Stafford on the sidelines, cause on the following drive Detroit's offense would look unstoppable getting all the way down to the Seahawks 5 yard line going into the 4th quarter. On 1st and goal, the Lions would come out in the Wildcat formation as Maurice Morris would take the snap right up the middle to the 1 yard line. Next play he would get stood up by Lofa Tatupu for a loss of 2. Now on 3rd and goal from the 3, Stafford would hand it off to Rookie HB Aaron Brown who would just walk into the endzone to give the Lions the 3 point lead, 17-14.

Hasselbeck would keep the momentum going on the next drive as he drove well into Lions territory at their 31 yard line fairly quickly with around 4 minutes remaining in the game. Then the Lions defense would finally step up forcing a 3rd and 10 as Hasselbeck would drop back in shotgun only to hand it off to Forsett for 7 yards as they would then kick the field goal that would tie the game up 17-17 with 3 minutes left on the clock. The Lions would have a golden opportunity to win the game by wasting the clock out, especially since they would start the drive close to midfield after a terrible kicck by Seattle! On a 3rd and 1 at the Seahawks 44 yard line, Stafford would hand it off to his FB Terrelle Smith who would gain 4 yards and the first down as the two minute warning rolled around. Detroit would face a big 3rd and 12 from the Seattle 41 yard line as Stafford would come out in 5-WR shotgun set ass he threw a strike to Dennis Northcutt who would catch it until he was blasted and dropped the ball! So now the Lions field goal team would come out to attempt a 57 yard field goal....until they called a timeout and Coach krul decided to punt instead. Good call too as Hasselbeck would throw a pick to Anthony Henry on the very first play as he took it right back to the Seattle 45! After a run up the middle by Maurice Morris for 4 yards. Lions would take a timeout, their second with 30 seconds left. Following play, a WR screen to Calvin Johnson would go for 40 yards and the touchdown! 24-17 Lions! But wait, a kick out of bounds would give Seattle the ball at their 40! Several plays later, at the Lions 24 yard line with 2 seconds left, Hasselbeck would go up to TE John Carlson in the endzone as it was....batted down! Lions hang on to win! 24-17! What a game as they move to 6-2 and Seattle falls to 3-5.

            Great Game Bomberooski!

The Lions Were Doing Flips Against Minnesota

              Box Score

              - 0 - 3 - 0 - 0 - 3

Detroit, MI (AP) - Week 10 of the TGT would feature the second matchup between 2 NFC North Rivals with Coach krul's Detroit Lions (6-2) traveling to face Coach GangstaE's Minnesota Vikings (4-4). Last time these two teams met, Brett Favre threw 7 interceptions (6 in the 1st half), yet the Lions still barely held on to win 30-28 in that game. The Lions would win the toss and choose to kick in hopes of getting the Brett Favre pick fest started once again.

Favre and company would start from his own 30 yard line. After a handoff to AP for no gain, Favre would throw a quick curl to rookie WR Percy Harvin who would get obliverated by fellow rookie FS Louis Delmas forcing the fumble allowing vet LB Julian Peterson to scoop the ball up and run it back 35 yards for the touchdown! 7-0 Lions in less than a minute. Next drive, two plays later again...AP would fumble as DE DeWayne White would come up with the football in the pileup, Lions ball at midfield! Wouldn't you know it, 2 plays later, Stafford would throw 1 pass to HB Maurice Morris for a 54 yard touchdown pass! The 2's have been great for the Lions so far, 14-0 Detroit.

Following drive for Minnesota wouldn't be a turnover, but it would be a quick 3 and out to give the Lions the ball right back at their 38. Luckily for the Vikings, it wouldn't get too ugly yet as they'd force a 3 and out of their own. Unfortunately, their offense wouldn't do anything and give it right back to the Lions offense. It would go back and forth again before Brett Favre would throw his first interception of the game to rookie FS Louis Delmas who made a fantastic pick, tipping it to himself and then catching it (all user by the way) and running it back 34 yards for the touchdown. 21-0 Lions early in the 2nd quarter.

On the next drive the Vikings would finally get some offense going getting into the Lions territory at their 34 before Favre would almost throw 2 picks in which the Lions defenders couldn't hang on to luckily as the Vikes kicked a 51 yard field goal to put their first points up. 21-3 Lions.

Detroit's offense wouldn't be able to do much next drive, but Brett Favre would throw a pick giving them the ball right back in the redzone at the Vikes 20. 3 plays later they'd be at the Vikes 9 yard line before coming out in the Wildcat formation as Maurice Morris snapped the ball and handed it off to Aaron Brown who ran it in untouched for the touchdown. 28-3 Lions heading into halftime.

The Lions would receive the ball to start the second half off as they would primarily focus on running the ball to waste the clock, even though they haven't had any success in the running besides for the wildcat touchdown that they scored late in the 2nd quarter. Well on a 3rd and 9, Stafford would throw a quick screen pass to Calvin Johnson who would follow his blocks, turn up field and take it 66 yards for the touchdown untouched making it 35-3 Lions!

It looks like Sage Rosenfels would be in to start the second half to replace Brett Favre hopefully to provide a spark to the Vikings struggling offense. Although Rosenfels would get his offense to around midfield, Detroit's pass rush would force a sack on 3rd and 9 forcing the Vikings to punt once again. Things would just get worse next drive as a playaction pass on 3rd and 2 to a wide open rookie TE Brandon Pettigrew who would run over one defender, dodging another while tight roping down the sidelines for a 76 yard touchdown, his first career TD! 42-3 Lions at the end of the 3rd quarter. Following drive, Bobby Wade would fumble as Ernie Sims would scoop it up for another Lions touchdown, 49-3 now.

The final score would end up being 49-3 Lions as they dominated in every facet of the game today as they'd advance to 7-2 while the Minnesota Vikings would fall to 4-5.

              ~Stat Of Impact~

Sage Rosenfels went 5/5 for 62 yards. Take not Brett Favre (who went 3/12, 2 INT's).

Lions Advance To Round 2 With 28-16 Win Over Raiders

Calvin Johnson Single Handedly Dominated Oakland's Defense

                Box Score
                - 7 - 14 - 7 - 0 - 28
                - 3 - 7 - 3 - 3 - 16

Detroit, MI (AP) - Round One of the F.A.N.D. Tournament would pit Coach krul's Detroit Lions against Coach Aso's Oakland Raiders at the Oakland Coliseum. Both coaches have played each other twice as the rivalry currently holds a 1-1 tie as this game would not only decide who has the rivalry lead, but who would advance in the F.A.N.D. tournament.

The Lions would win the toss and elect to defer. The Raiders would start from their own 28 yard line and after converting their first 3rd down, they would move down into Lions territory rather easily. Until facing another 3rd and 6 at the Lions 18 in which JaMarcus Russell would throw an incomplete pass as Oakland would settle for a field goal. Perhaps an even bigger loss for the Raiders would be HB Darren McFadden suffering turf toe that would keep him out for the rest of the game. 3-0 Raiders.

Detroit's offense would move right down the field their first drive on 5 plays for 66 yards on a big 3rd and 4 as rookie QB Matthew Stafford would dump off a HB screen to Maurice Morris who would break 2 tackles and run down the sidelines for the big touchdown. 7-3 Lions. On the following Raiders possession, Detroit's defense would come up with a big 3 and out stop giving their offense the ball back on their 20. The Raiders defense would respond right back with a big interception putting them on the Lions 35 yard line. The very first play on their drive though, rookie FS Louis Delmas would make a huge hit on HB Michael Bush who would fumble and the Lions recovered the ball right back. Several plays later the Lions would find themselves in the endzone again as HB Maurice Morris would take a handoff on 3rd and goal from the 4 and follow his blocks into the endzone. 14-3 Lions.

Finally Oakland would find it's way into the endzone easily next drive as terrible tackling would lead to an easy touchdown to bring them within 4 late in the 2nd quarter. Coach Krul said I see your touchdown, I raise you another as on the very first play Stafford would dump off a screen to Calvin Johnson who would follow his blocks and outrun everyone else for the 75 yard touchdown! 21-10 Lions with a little under 2 minutes remaining in the half. On the next drive Russell would go deep to Heyward-Bey, but overthrow him big time right into the hands of CB Phillip Buchanon who would take it all the way back to their own 49 yards with 20 seconds remaining in the half. With Detroit having all 3 of it's timeouts left, Coach krul would play aggressive. The Lions wouldn't be able to capitalize though as the teams headed into halftime 21-10.

Stafford and company would take the field from their 20 to start the second half off, but Oakland's defense would force a quick 3 and out. They would capitalize on the next possession kicking a 58 yard field goal making it a one possession game. 21-13 Lions. It wouldn't last long though as on the very first play of the next drive, Stafford would fake it to the half back and throw a bomb up to Calvin Johnson who had a step on Asomougha, catching it, then breaking the tackle for the quick touchdown. 28-13 Lions.

The Raiders would end up tacking on another field goal, but that would be it as the Lions ended up winning the game 28-16 as Coach krul would advance to the 2nd round of the F.A.N.D. tournament.

                Good Game Aso.

Detroit Comes Out On Top In Huge Late-Season Matchup

Detroit, MI (AP) - On a 2 game skid, Coach krul's Detroit Lions (9-4) desperately need to get out of their funk with only 3 weeks remaining in the regular season and with every game counting towards that home field advantage in the playoffs. It would have to start this week too as a HUGE game against Coach MVP's Arizona Cardinals (9-4) could very well be a potential playoff preview as well. Whoever wins this game has a very good chance of capturing the #1 seed as the only other team with a 9-4 record would be the New Orleans Saints, whom the Detroit Lions defeated all the way back in week 1. With all that said, the stage was set, in beautiful Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions up against the tough flighted Arizona Cardinals....RIGHT NOW!

The Cardinals would win the toss and elect to kick off first to give their offense the ball first in the second half. Matthew Stafford and the Lions offense would start from their 30 yard line and after a 4 yard rush by Kevin Smith, Stafford would recognize the blitz as Arizona brought 8 up in the box and dumped it off quickly to Smith again and follow his block from the rookie TE Brandon Pettigrew who through a perfect block as it was home free for Smith. Touchdown Lions! Kurt Warner would now start from his 33 and quickly face a 3rd and 11 in which he would throw a 59 yard bomb to Larry Fitzgerald who beat 3 defenders and this is where you could see how much the Lions were missing their sensational rookie FS Louis Delmas. Another 3rd and goal now as on the 9 yard line Warner would fire it to rookie HB Beanie Wells on the screen which they made look easy as he ran in untouched for the tying touchdown. 7-7.

Second play of the next Lions drive, Stafford would overthrow Pettigrew just for LB Carlos Dansby to pick it off. This is something that the young quarterback has done alot the past few games and if the lines wanted any chance of winning this game he would have to get out of his funk real quick like. Low and behold, another 3rd and 11 from the Lions 46, could Detroit stop it this time? Yes, yes they could as they held WR Anquan Boldin for just 3 yards as K Neil Rackers would come out to attempt a 61 yard field goal...in which he made! What a kick. 10-7 Cards. Stafford would rebound on the next drive getting his offense past midfield all the way to the Cards 31 yard line. Then shortly after to their 9, before throwing a fade to the back of the endzone to Calvin Johnson who would catch it keeping both feet in...Touchdown Lions! 14-10 early in the 2nd quarter now. On the very first play of the next drive Kurt Warner would go deep to WR Anquan Boldin but be picked off by CB Phillip Buchanon who returned it all the way to the Cardinals 17 yard line! On 3rd and 5 at the 12 now, Stafford would throw a strike to Marvin Harrison on the slant who would dive to catch it and almost roll into the endzone, but be determined to be down at the 1 yard line. Arizona's defense wouldn't allow an easy touchdown either as they would stop them on three downs as Detroit went for a fake field goal (which is 2/2 this season) and both receivers were open, but Culpepper got hit just as he threw the ball causing a bad pass resulting in an incompletion and a turnover on downs. What a big stand by Arizona.

After getting two first downs, Detroit's defense would force a punt and with a little over 2 minutes remaining, on the first play of the Lions next possession, like they have so many times already this year, Stafford would fake to Smith and throw it deep to Calvin Johnson who had a step on Rodgers-Cromartie, caught the ball, proceeded to break the arm tackle for the 58 yard touchdown! 21-10 Lions. Arizona quickly got right back into the game with a two play drive that covered 63 yards to make it 21-17 with a minute left in the half. Coach krul and Stafford said, "Ok, you wanna play that game?" as they went 3 plays for 88 yards with a 73 yard touchdown to WR Calvin Johnson who once again burned Rodgers-Cromartie making the score 28-17 at halftime.

Arizona started at their 28 yard line to begin the second half off. After picking up an easy first down, Warner would face another 3rd and long and the veteran SS Kalvin Pearson who has been filling in for the injured Delmas picked off Warner as he read the play the whole way jumping in front of Larry Fitgerald, then proceeded to run it back for the touchdown as the Lions now had a commanding 35-17 lead still early in the 3rd quarter. Warner would bring it closer again on his next drive going down the field and scoring on another screen to Beanie Wells. 35-24 Lions.

The Cardinals made things a little more interesting towards the end of the 3rd quarter as Rodgers-Cromartie picked off Stafford (albeit resulting in a sprained foot for him) and Warner got his offense into field goal range for Rackers to kick another field goal bringing them down by 8 points, 35-27. Stafford would lead a nice drive down the field wasting time off the clock in the process as Hanson booted through a 38 yard field goal to bring the Cards down by two possessions with a little under 5 minutes remaining in the game. 38-27 Detroit. On the next drive, LB Ernie Sims put the dagger in the heart with a pick six making it 45-27 Lions!

After another interception thrown by Kurt Warner (his 4th of the day), the Lions milked the clock. After using all their timeouts, the Cards offense got the ball one last time...in which Warner threw his 5th interception allowing the Lions to come out in the victory formation and kneel it. Detroit wins by the final score of 45-27 and advances to 10-4 while the Cards fall to 9-5.

Good Game MVP, I wouldn't doubt it if I saw you again in the playoffs. Good luck with your final 2 games.
